Especially when facing LT’s Giants, Montana lost more times than he won? This play literally forced the Niners to sign Steve Young as a back up so they could have security.

When I look at these old highlights one of the first thing i notice is that AstroTurf . I prompted to look up how many teams were playing on it. It's pops up in all these old highlights

but Madden and Pat tho...what a team

Madden "It looks like it was his shoulder. Remember he told us about his shoulder, Pat?"

Pat "Yup. I remember"

.........minutes later

Madden "Maybe it wasnt the shoulder. He's wobbly. He looks like he got knocked out"

Pat "Yup"

:russ:
the game was an ass whooping so Pat probably was in the booth like :mjlit:

I said rings dont matter and Manning has lost more to the pats. :mjlol:

Again...you brought rings which is a team accomplishment. You can argue that Montana wasnt even the best player on his own team

you are confusing me breh. i brought up 8-5 in montana's favor, but you mentioned the playoffs Ws Ls:comeon:
brady beats manning 11-6, but 2-3 in the playoffs against manning. stop confusing me.

and ain't nothing wrong with montana not being the best player. jerry rice was that great. :usure:

again rings do matter in the GOAT conversation. :gucci: it's a part of the discussion. i like montana's 4-0 and his flawless performance better than any LT's playoff success. that's just me.

montana without those rings is alex smith with better accuracy :mjlol:

montana is montana because he won those 4 SBs. those clutch moments and perfection in SB made him

i get that other positions have a different standard. anthony munoz is the GOAT OT. he was so much better than anybody else at his position. but ain't nobody putting munoz in the GOAT conversation because his position is not as important.

How old were you in the 80s? The NFC playoffs were tougher than facing AFC teams in the super bowl. Montana wasnt even the best player on his team.

At no point in the 80s did anyone say “this is the greatear qb Ive ever seen” about Montana. While LT was playing saying “this is the greatest LB ever” was tied to his play. Only orher athlete I heard have that said about him as early in his career was MJ.

How old are some of the dudes in here...I have to ask.

i was in my teens breh. i'll flip a coin between montana and rice. rice was that great. but montana did win a ring without rice.

He won a ring w/o because that offense was revolutionary. Had old ass wendell tyler rushing for over 1,000 and FB Roger Craig catching passes out of the backfield. At no point was Montana considered the goat WHILE playing.

from my recollection GOAT QB conversation started after montana his 3rd ring and got serious with his 4th. Montana never was considered as the GOAT player. GOAT player was always jim brown and maybe unitas when i was growing up. and then jerry rice and LT got added. i never once considered montana the GOAT player back then.

but brady and manning changed all that. i came to realize QB is just so much more valuable to the team and so much more important. packers are borderline 4 win team without great aaron rodgers. you saw what the colts look like without peyton manning.

and that's why GOAT player must be a QB

LT was considered the GOAT befoee he got a ring.

LT forced teams to put athletes at left tackle.

LT started the phasing out of the FB by forcing teams into one back offenses.

Montana NEVER had the league wide impact LT had. LT teams won more crunch time games va Montana. He wasnt even voted above LT by NFL players. Montana’s teammate was voted ahead of Montana.

Montana never had LTs impact, period. Lawrence was the far superior player

so you would rather have LT over montana? :patrice:

head to head match up don't do nothing for me :hubie: brady got a losing record against the panthers.

and it's not like giants were dominant every year :usure:
if they were so dominant they should have more than 2 SB appearances and more playoff success.

LT is the top 3 greatest defensive player ever. no doubt. but i'll take the great QB over him no matter what. :manny:

I can you were not cognitive at all back then.

Y'all nikkaz be talking and don't even know to look on YouTube before speaking at least.

I would make an argument for Jerry Rice considering he did not possess Lawrence's natural God given gifts. But I would consider Taylor in the top 5 and the best defensive player to play the game.
