i wish you luck bruh

what state you in? the big law environment is pretty damn miserable

everyone i know is out (im 7 years licensed). last of us lasted 6 years b4 boucing. most didnt last 3-4 years
Ohio. And that's what I've been told, everyone I have professional contacts with that isn't Black is a either an Associate or a Partner at Jones Day.
To be honest, I've hit near-80 hour weeks a few times in a row, and the base salary in a slightly less (as in non-NYC/DC/LA) office I've heard is a bit less stressful, if only slightly.

I went to a law school where it’s extemeely easy to get a biglaw offer. My biggest regret is going on autopilot and not looking at alternative legal careers. I was lazy, if you’re still in law school you should look at other options just so you know what else is out there. No doubt the biglaw salary is enticing but Mr. Goldstein will get his money’s worth from You, on a per hour basis it’s not as much as you think especially if you’re in NY or SF

I’m gonna get my third year bonus and then GTFO.
I'm definitely looking at everything from DOJ Honors to JAG, I need to know my semester grades before I really start to weigh options.

@String Bell
Have you considered Fed/SSC clerkship ----> corporate law, as an alternate to OCI?
I know its becoming more standard, and also has a nice bonus.

arent those jobs harder to get than big law? I worked for the fed Gov before law school and i wasnt a fan, maybe it was just that particularly organization though.

I did my summer and articles at a big law firm (Canada, Bay St)

Opted out of the hire back process, to start my own practice. I had a great experience, met alot of great people who were saddened to see me leave but all the Partners I talked to told me I had balls to go out on my own right after being called

If I was younger, in my mid to late 20s, I wouldve put in at least three years but I'm 34. I have a network, I have corporate experience and I have the game to get my own clients.

NO middleman, no cuts in 2018

Congrats. I think I’m going to try to do the same. How is your practice going and what kind of law are you doing?

Do you know what practice area you’re going to be doing or will you just try to see what sticks?

They can be, depending on your references/people you know.
They can also be a hell of a lot easier w/ the right network.
If you have a few well-connected professors you fukk with, or your affinity organization has a tight connection w/ a few judges, it can just take a little legwork.

I initially planned a primarily real estate practice, with some wills, some corporate stuff and maybe litigation

I've since decided to scrap litigation altogether, and I've decided against wills. I've also decided to take on immigration work, only because I've been getting alot of requests for immigration work. Have three client s already and I haven't launched yet

Gotta go with the market. Besides real estate is not something one should exclusively practice because youre a hostage to the real estate market.

Any tips on a LSAT prep course? I've been looking at 7sage and blueprint..
To be honest, Powerscore books, purchasing all of the available tests (1-83 or something like that, and Cambridge packets should have you set.
Go through all of the Bible’s and through every test, start out untuned and move to timed.
Create a set schedule.
