Pretty much. Dudes here are talking about engineering shows like they're building a rocketship. Like they don't make these shoes in sweatshops.

Take that rookie contract money and then get people to design shoes. And then you can sell them on the internet. I think Nike is scared

:heh:
We literally watched a rapper make the sneaker wars shift (Yeezys), you don't think Nike isnt scared of it's bball line going the way of the Dunks or Air Force One?

:pachaha:

That said, why would anyone else sign to BBB? It's gonna be hard to survive off just your kids.
Exactly. He's selling clothing shoes etc but the way he's promoting it he's really selling himself and his sons, which already limits who's going to be interested . If his sons fail the brand is dead.

This is a dumb move man.

Nike pays top talent millions. If you're a ball player with a shoe deal you're getting millions. This nikka lavar tahm bout he wants a billion :gucci: for who?

And this is why I know they are scared. Unlike a huge majority of top picks in the NBA, Lonzo has a very active father, Lavar, who is an entrepreneur trying to run a business from scratch. Lavar has gotten more press for Lonzo just by talking shyt then billion dollar institution UCLA did. I have never seen Bryce Alford on national day time sports shows and his dad is a legendary player and the coach. Aaron Holiday has two brothers in the NBA already and I can't tell you what he looks like.

What Lavar is doing is unprecedented and with how many black people are woke now he will get a ton of support.

Remember guys, Under Armour wasn't even in our vocabulary 10 years ago and I see it in my gym as much as all the other brands. What Lavar is doing is sparking an idea, and that is all it takes. Even if BBB doesn't take over and Lonzo doesn't become an All-NBA player there is someone with a 13 year old right now that can be the Next LeBron, and he's like "Lavar is right, my kid is worth a billion dollars too, if they don't want to pay us we'll make our own sneakers."

And that is very dangerous to Nike, Adidas, Reebok because right now they only have to compete with each other for new players. This can be game changing, and BBB has a spokesman that generates headlines every time he speaks. That's worth millions in marketing/branding/press alone.

You guys do realize he has been in the media non stop and his son may not even be the #1 pick. Lonzo Ball will enter the NBA next season more famous than all of the rookies from this season, and next, including #1 pick Ben Simmons. I don't know the name of the father of anyone drafted in the last two drafts. What Lavar is doing has a deep level of sophistication to it. Let him get a shoe that The Migos/Lil Uzi falls in love with and this entire conversation changes.

We literally watched a rapper make the sneaker wars shift (Yeezys), you don't think Nike isnt scared of it's bball line going the way of the Dunks or Air Force One?
Under armour sold because it made a good inventive product. And really ? Kanye is signed to a company he's not making his stuff dolo :hhh:. Kanye who is internationally known was crying about how he couldn't get help from the big fashion houses

They'd lose so much money breh. That's why i say.. sign that first big contract with Nike/Adidas etc, and use that money to fund a GREAT sneaker. You CANNOT fukk up your prototype shoe. You have less than zero percent fukk-up-ability. You need DEEEEP pockets for that.

I truly don't think Nike would even let them be successful to be honest. If you don't think Nike has their own goons/corporate sharks, that will bleed BBB dry, before they even get started.. then I don't know what to say.

Dudes better off going on shark tank to be honest.

What they gonna Do? Pay them Chinese kids 20 extra cents to stitch the shoes the wrong way?

Because Kanye is a dumbass... he wanted his shyt on display at fashion shows that's what he was crying about. He could've easily manufactured a regular shoe on his own

Lavar delusional breh he needs to take that guranteed money and be an entrepreneur with something else instead of sourcing out manufacturing, design and advertising since he knows nothing about those. When you're a no name brand tryna compete with the big boys the real profit is made from starting shyt from scratch (raw material) and keeping everything internal. But since he knows nothing about that, he's probably going to get a lousy cut from some Chinese manufacturers while convincing himself he's a boss.

Why didn't he ? Because it's hard to do that shyt and that's with his name recognition and money . He didn't want to go bankrupt . You guys need to watch shark tank . I don't know what lavar balls current job is but I don't think he has all the manufacturing experience connections and resources needed

a factory has a minimum order for a production run right?
Depends, I remember I went to China in Guangzhou with a friend that was doing clothing at the time.
He wanted to make I think about around 1000 jeans cant remember. Anyway guy though my friend was some huge clothing company he got pretty upset about only doing a thousand jeans and told my friend he could do it when his next shift of workers came in which was that day. That was pre b2b-business to business websites, which means it's even easier now.

Two brothers in China doing that work for clothes, so why can't a brother who has a million more in leverage put in that work for him and his son. I hope Ball and his sons make it.

it would be about combating representatives of structural oppression. I'd do it just to fukk with Knight, and his contemporaries.

Are you white?

Man hell no. Are you broke?

I swear it's only 9-5 working internet black power slacktivists talking about they would be investing millions to combat structural oppression by investing into Big Baller Brand :russ:

Breh. First of all, if you make millions investing, you don't make stupid investments, because you're not a stupid person. So since you're not a stupid person, before you inject your hard earned family money into an "investment", you gonna look at those profit and loss statements and see if you will earn your money back. Becaese it's umm...an investment.

Next, your mindset is the reason OUR community's doesn't have wealth. Poor people mindset - you just want to throw around the word investment to sound smart and financially savvy, but let me break it down for you from someone that knows exactly what he's talking about. It's these "investments" that cause a lot of us, especially athletes to grow back.

True, generational wealth is built through putting your money into things that can lock in for your kids, and their kids. It's the three generation rule. Things like high level life insurance that you can earn interest on and things like that. Putting money into hawking products is not what wealthy people do, but a lot of us think that's what they do so when you ask someone "what would you do when you get rich" people say "invest", without any clue of what that means.

You would be an idiot to take money out of your daughters mouth and give it to Lavar Ball to push "Big Baller Brand" because you think his ugly t shirts are going to shut down Nike or create some new mindset (mind you black athletes been doing this for years, clothing lines and kicks) but there are black tech people and scientists that have legit Biz that y'all not mentioning.

Let's take someone from our community. Nas is one of the smartest investors around. Yes Nas the rapper. Does he have a clothing line? Nah. Real money don't put money into dumb shyt like that. He invested into Bevel, apps, and a lot of dope tech, a lot black owned.

It don't matter who you are, you can't carry an athletic brand alone. Name one person that couldve.

Lebron? You do realize the "King" logo, 500 million in advertising budget for commercials and print media, overseas camps and China tours, and massive shoe distribution deals ( oh yea that LBJ don't gotta pay for) is the reason he is so wealthy now, and such a big name. Marketing ain't just about what you can do in your sport, and ownership isn't always about having your name on an LLC. That's just feel good crap. Lebron's lifetime deal will outway anything BBB could ever do, str8 cash, and LB is building dope ass businesses in Ohio and Florida.

Hell, even Floyd Mayweather got offices and building here in DC, no lie. These dudes making bank, some raggedy clothing line ain't changing nobodies game.

And before you respond Mr. Investor, post a picture of the $50s you invested into buying a BIg Baller T shirt - they have been available online for awhile :usure:
