Its a good debate and I truly believe its one thats too close to call. I have no problem with anyone putting Fish over Denzel. Like someone else said, you could make the argument that Don Cheadle is a better actor than both of those guys. But all you are really doing is splitting hairs. In my view they are all upper echelon.

I enjoy the work of both but I will say Fish embodied Ike Turner in What's Love Got To Do With It he should've won the Oscar for that performance.

Im normally one to downplay Denzel when people start throwing around the "GOAT" label, but hes definitely a more memorable actor than Fish. Fish has been part of a lot of cult-classics, and is possibly a better character actor, but Denzel is in a higher league with several classic leads under his belt

Laurence may not have as many lead roles or main character roles as Denzel but Laurence is a better actor in my opinion. Denzel is good but I don't think he's as great as he's made out to be. Plus, Laurence has been in more better movies than Denzel has too:

The only movies that Denzel did really great jobs in my opinion were Malcolm X, Glory, The Hurricane and Inside Man. But other than that, his performances are just alright to me.

Both are EXCELLENT actors, so there is no need to compare them imo.
Each is better at certain things than the other. I'd say Lawerence plays a better footsoldier, Denzel is the better cop.

Denzel couldn't play a lot of the roles Larry has played, it wouldn't of been the same.. and vice versa
