Having these old dudes in jail is horrible and shows absolutely no growth in their characters in at all
. Cube's idea for stories and characters is more the reason for Chris Tucker wanting no parts than money probably. He said himself he's not trying to re-create the goofball of a 20 year old Smokey as a 50 year old man....
Having Smokey in the last movie as a reformed grown up man handling his business and being the one trying to tell Craig and Day Day to get it together would be better than that script they presented

I can't imagine a Friday movie sans John Witherspoon and fact of the matter is it's been almost 20 years since the last Friday movie, every actor involved that is still alive are in different places in their careers. I respect Cube going for the last hurrah but it may be best to leave the series as it is, a very funny trilogy.

I'm guessing Craig would be the one that ended up in prison and that would be a disappointment and a bit depressing to be honest.
I have to give props to Chris Tucker for sticking to his guns and never coming back to the Smokey role despite the fact that his career dried up after 2001 due to his high salary demands although I'm also kind of sad that he never did.
Oh well.

Pretty much all of this. I think too much time has passed regarding a sequel to Friday or rebooting sitcoms such as Martin or TFPOB. Now if something comes out regarding either Friday, Martin, and TFPOBA, I would check it out just off general principle but my expectations would be severely lowI mean, he is, but the supporting cast is what elevates the stars, and it's not the same without them.
Will Smith was the star of Fresh Prince but I don't want a reboot without Uncle Phil.
Martin Lawrence was the star of Martin but I don't want a reboot without Tommy.
Brandy Norwood was the star of Moesha but I don't want a reboot without Hakeem and Andell.
Even though Coming 2 America didn't get good reviews (I still haven't seen it myself), I'm just glad James Earl Jones and John Amos were still living to be in it.
Ummmmm yeah, why the hell did Cube want to turn this into a prison movie. WB was right.
Only way I see a new Friday movie could work is if....
A) they made it a prequel with how Craig and Smokey first met with Ice Cube's real life son playing the role of Young Craig
or
B) the movie is how Craig's parents first met and have some type of adventure with his brother Elroy with John Witherspoon's real life son J.D. Witherspoon to play a Young Pops
