Mitch is blocking shots at an elite level now and he guards the perimeter as good as any big I can think of when it comes to switching. I wouldn't set his ceiling at Capela (though I like him), he could surpass that dude. Plus he's under contract for less than 2 million dollars a season for the next 3 seasons. When you account for that contract and his upside, it's not so cut and dried. Mitch and three for Davis is probably too good to deny though I admit, but I also think that won't get it done and when we start pumping even more assets in it gets more and more complicated.

What are more assets? None of the young guys we have are even that good to be considered great assets.

Top of the league players are what wins titles in the nba. Nobody we currently have will ever sniff that level so you don’t keep them out of deals for players of that caliber

Apparently the Pelicans like Kevin Knox...im sure theres still some teams that would value Frank. Trier showed some potential, plus the draft picks we have from Dallas

Even Vonleh showed potential as a role player

Me personally, i wouldnt give up the 4th pick, Mitch, Knox and other assets for Davis

AD is often injured. Giannis is more durable and better, he'll be a free agent in 2021. Thats the one guy id deal the house for

Also if we wait it gives us more time to evaluate our young talent. The sky is the limit for Mitch. I cant recall seeing anyone out jump him for rebounds and Mitch is already doing a good job of utilizing his ability to get to the highest point. His timing and reflexes are exceptional

This is why they'll want the whole bag. So DSJ, Frank, Knox, future picks...all of that is a threat to be on the table and it still might not beat what the Lakers or C's offer.

You don't have to trade your entire roster for one top player when you have enough cap space to sign two. We've emptied our assets to compile stars before and we got exactly one trip to the second round. That was it. We can chase KD and Kawhi; then pair them with a Kyrie, Kemba or whoever without giving up ANY assets; but if that fails, we can always roll over the cap space to next offseason where AD will be a UFA. Then we can also try to sign AD without giving up any assets. Trading the farm for AD isn't necessary unless it's the only way to get KD here.

We had Amare and Melo!!!

Kd Kyrie and AD or a combo of the 2 is on a whole mother level then those two you can’t compare the situations.

I would obviously rather have the first pick but the third pick still gives the team a little flexibility whether to keep the pick or ship it out for someone else, just happy the team didn't drop out even further.

The bit you cut out was important fam. Especially the bold, because I'm not saying the pairing can't work but how we go about it plays a role.

"We can chase KD and Kawhi; then pair them with a Kyrie, Kemba or whoever without giving up ANY assets; but if that fails, we can always roll over the cap space to next offseason where AD will be a UFA. Then we can also try to sign AD without giving up any assets. Trading the farm for AD isn't necessary unless it's the only way to get KD here."

That bolded bit is key but the rest explains why, so I left it in there. With a bit of patience, we can potentially add 2 of KD/Kyrie/AD without trades necessary depending on the circumstances. But I wouldn't make any moves before KD is in hand because AD and Kyrie are both injury prone where KD is reliable. I wouldn't get into a bidding war with LA or Boston without certainty about KD and even then, if we could get Kyrie/KD and keep everyone we have; I think there's a case for going that route over AD/KD and an empty roster. Add Kyrie and KD to what we have (including the third pick in the draft) and you have roster depth that's affordable. At that point, you can start packaging assets for improvements.
