that 54 win season we were smashin teams left and right, and were one of the best teams in the league.that was the best period for a knick fan since 99 lmao whats goin on right now isnt even close

and the 54 win team could of been sustained if we didnt make dumb trades after that and then sign phil.

That 54 win team was built for one season, and that was the regular season. Like I said, i'll take this over that any day.

sustained how?
the season after melo started getting injuries (the fukked up shoulder)
jr smith...is inconsistency personified and was our second leading scorer winning 6th man of the year.
at MAX we were getting another good year out of it.
we had so much money tied up into depreciating players...rapidly depreciating at that. tyson, melo, amare.
That year was good........but 54 wins is good not great...especially not even making the conference finals
we just have fond memories of it cause it was the only time we were worth a damn in 20 years
that okc game, or the spurs one
raptors won 59 games last year....and they still viewed it as a failure cause they couldnt beat lebron
we had a BUNCH of veterans on that team....it wasnt going to last long. I enjoyed the ride though

In hindsight that 54 win team was Jason Kidd and Rasheed with just enough in the tank for a season and JR Smith "focused" on basketball. You really think that was sustainable?

Everything about that year was "going in" and they fukked it up trying to sustain it with Bargnani. Also not to dig up old bones but the worse personnel mistake Phil made was based on "going in" with a squad made around Melo.

Your right about the youth, but at least the time line is reasonable with the warriors out here smashing everyone.

bargnani trade ruined all the chemistry, wasnt needed, nor did we need to give up those picks for no reason

chandler was out for 6 weeks and we stil only missed the playoffs by a game. jr was out too

all we had to do was sign some vet minimum players to replace kidd and some of the other big men. not sayin we woulda won 54 plus again, but there was room to re tool the team. and we had cap space the followin year. phil fukked dat up too.


melo has nothin to do with it. i no yall love to scapegoat him bit phil never tried buildin around him. phil built around his triangle. he traded tyson chandler and felton for sameul dalembart and calderon lol. gave away chandler for nothin, both those players got roles on playoff teams 6 years later.

amare was expiring soon, we traded away jr and shump who had key roles on a championship team. and we been trash since.

this season is intriguing at best, but its not memorable or fun at all..we a trash team trying to figure shyt out.
