1st pick in the draft Zion; sign KD (means the reclamation guys are all gone unfortunately), keep the option on Dot (rescinding that only adds 800,000 to cap space).

Frank/Kerwin Roach (second round draft pick)
THJ/Trier
KD/Dot
Zion/Knox
KP/Mitch

And then for good karma, bring back Jeremy Lin on a minimum salary contract to be the third PG (or second if Roach flops)

I've been looking at 2nd round guys and he's a player I'm bullish on, I like Brian Bowen too.

It would be typical Knicks to win enough games to get the 8th pick. Knox shows absolutely nothing and our future is still highly in question at the end of the year lol

8th pick not spot but Idk about that . I could see a 8th pick depending on how the guys keep developing. They definitely are playing harder for fitz and could continue to develop. They’ve been in a surprising number o f games

What is everyone’s dream starting 5 next season (with some level of possibility/probability)? Meaning it can happen if everything falls just right...

I’ve been tinkering with this in 2K since August. (I have a problem)

Frank
Timmy
KD
Zion
KP

Trier (6th man)
Dotson
Knox
Vonleh
Mitch

I’d round out the bench with Lance, and a second rounder or two.

Something that someone brought up that i foolishly hadn’t thought of was that does signing KD mean that you’re selling some of the young guys to get him another star. Does he come to play with a bunch of high potential 20 year olds?

Also, @storyteller , your guy Front Office Eye put this in an article i was reading about Fultz...

***I will also add that someone who told me that Burke to NY would happen months before it happened also told me that KD to NY is really in the cards. I’m not going to go into detail why (there are many working pieces from KD’s perspective), or who my source was, but he was spot on in the past and I do trust him.***

He checks all of the boxes that I look for in a second round pick. I'd love to take a flier on dude. Haven't watched Brian Bowen this year (or even Doumbouya much) but that's a player I definitely want to get a couple of looks at given the story and promising skillset.

@RickyGQ I can say for sure that FoE gets to have conversations with a lot of interesting people around the way. When he says that he's hearing things, I know he's not fronting about it (full bias acknowledged though since he's looked me out plenty in the past). On a sidenote, if yall ever want a mini breakdown on a college player...that's the man to tweet.

the player develonment this year has been great so far
trier wasnt drafted and plays like a first rounder
mitch is a second rounder leadin the league in blocks
mudiay was one of the worst point guards in the league and now he starting, hittin shots, and dunking on nikkas

frank and dotson have shown flashes, kanter and treyway buildin off their play from last year. its gonna take time, and we definitely need to get rid of some of these guys for cap and development purposes, but it seems like they on the right track

Agreed. The growth is showing up. I'm excited to see what these cats look like in February, let alone going into an offseason with Fiz guiding their workout plans. Whatever Fiz does to make players better finishers is straight up magic, Mudiay is night and day inside.

Knox will improve....he will
:mjcry:

On the baby steps approach, I already think some of his early hesitation with the ball is fading. He used to catch the ball and look around or pump fake but not go into a second move quickly enough. He's been catching in rhythm to pull up right away and pump faking into a first step to the rim. It hasn't translated yet, but I think that'll come. Defensively, I'm hoping he shows more but part of his issue has been getting pushed around when he has to guard 4's so frequently...so glass half full, that's something he'll address as he gets some grown man strength.

How you feel about Ja Morant if we were to fall out the top 7?

I'll give the Knicks board on Realgm props for putting me on to him with a massive hype train over there while I was kinda zero'ed in on a handful of other prospects early. That dude is gonna be really good. Explosion combined with really good awareness to make some crazy acrobatic passes...I get why heads are throwing out big name comparisons (Rose, Fox, Westbrook name drops); he's that kinda explosive and quick. That's not to mention what Fiz could do with him and that vision of his. He's the one player that I'd be willing to invest in and slide Frank off that PG development target for. Honestly, once you're past pick 3; I'm already starting to consider him against the other prospects available (talkin' Bol Bol and one of the Duke trio here).

If HoopsHype is accurate, in 2019 they're scheduled to have $57,344,983 in salary.

If they withdraw Mudiay's QO and don't take on any additional salary this year they would have $63,103,880 to spend.

That's with Timmy, Lee, Lance, KP (keep his QO of course), Frank, Knox, Mitch and Dot on payroll.

While the dream would be to move Lee (leaves us with $75,863,550) and Lance (make that $83,447,525) with both having that extra year of salary to pay off, that's not happening.

Trier will his salary adjusted this season, as he's not on the books next year, and rookie scale will probably run the Knicks at least 4.5 mil (Frank and Knox are both at 4.8 and 4.3 respectively) so that will knock the team down to around $58 million.

Any top 5 pick is likely going to run anywhere from 5-8 million, but I'd imagine the contracts could be constructed in a way to lessen the damage the first year.

So with all that in mind, the team is looking at conceivably $51 or $52 million to spend on FA's this year.

Durant, if he opts in, will make $31.5 mil. I would imagine if he goes elsewhere that amount goes down, based on contract structuring favoring the home team.

Kawhi, if he opts in, would make just over 21 mil - but of course he's looking to get that super max money now so he won't make that.

If both of them took less to start and shorter contracts (say they both start out at $26 mill) to join up you could realistically field a team of -

KP/Mitch
Zion/Knox
KD/Knox
Kawhi/Trier
Frank

or

Mitch
KP/Knox
KD/Knox
Kawhi/Cam
Frank/Trier

or

Mitch/Bol
KP/Knox
KD/Knox
Kawhi/Trier
Frank

or

With Lance, Lee, Dot, Timmy all still on the team and looking to do whatever you can to trade them to clear up the glut and sign minimums to fill whatever gaps.

Just saying. :yeshrug:
