its harder to play defense now because of the rules, and because its no longer an priority. name me one team in the league that considers defense their first priority? they arent any. back in the day we had knicks pistons pacers etc teams dat primarily focused on defense

"advanced offense?" lmao
95 percent of nba plays start with a pick and role, a mismatch, and end with a 3. theres nothin advance about the nba offense. its extremly predictable. its a three point shootin contest
What about the Grizzlies

What about the rules about zone defense who helped the development of help defense in the league

Collective defense is better than it ever been. It's way more tactical than before

if its so simple why wouldnt teams stop it. because as simple as the oldest play in the game is...it's impossible to stop if ran correctly.
trying to defend someone shooting from 26 feet away and then trying to play help defense on someone coming down the lane while respecting a shooter is almost impossible.
it's not for lack of effort. It's really fukking hard. and the good teams succeed at defense more than the bad teams.
you think everyone plays the same defense and the good teams just get lucky more than others because the teams they play just happen to miss on accident :mjlol:
there's a reason the 6'6-6'10 swiss knife players are en vogue. players that can be versatile and guard multiple positions and switch out regardless of a pick or not.
the game has evolved to this. and rule changes have occurred to help offense....there will be an adjustment period.
the league will not go back to the slow grind out isolation offenses of the 90s to mid 2000s.
bad defensive teams dont win shyt. thats a prevalent theme.
Gilbert Arenas made a similar point on his podcast a few weeks ago. As much as offenses have innovated throughout the history of basketball, defense never really has. Defensive concepts have been pretty much the same for decades now.

At this point I feel like a lot of what fitz sAid was lip service , he seems to flip flop rotations and seems to hold frank /kanter more accountable than say Burke mudiay or Timmy when they screw up . I think I’d like to see a frank Timmy Knox vonleh and Mitch lineup try and start the game consistently . May not be the most scoring but I think they can maybe stop us being down big or giving up back to back to back baskets

I'm starting to feel similar. Fiz says his team is looking at analytics but the rotations don't reflect that at all and I'm just not sure what he's actually valuing on the floor with the way he punishes players. Last game with the Magic, Mudiay completely missed his assignment and gave up a backdoor lay-up from Jonathon Isaac; Fiz was furious called timeout and everything...then benched Frank for Burke and kept Mudiay out there. That's not the accountability I'm looking for.

Said it better than I could’ve. I think the problem is both the staff and players, but mostly the coaching. They not doing much beside letting everyone do whatever, if there’s an actual offense it don’t look like much right now. We need to put the youth in the position to succeed and it doesn’t look or feel like that’s what’s happening.

Knox, Trier and Frank need some personal mentors that are vets. They’re contracts are cheap enough that you can write off the cost of hiring mentors. But, the org should want to invest in these players as it does nothing but benefit them in the long run.

Like i said previously, Fiz looking funny but I’m not gonna condemn the man so soon.

Yeah, I feel this 100%. The lack of structure is limiting for young players that don't have much experience in the NBA while the guys with 3,4 and 5 years of playing time are able to capitalize more easily. It's nice that Fiz is giving young cats minutes and I appreciate it, but adding structure would help turn the right decisions into more routine action. I'm also totally with you on not trying to condemn Fiz too soon. There's a chance that the structure won't take shape until he sets his rotation. A lot of these players have had fluid roles (Knox moving from 3 to 4 for example) with the demands shifting. Fiz may be able to get these guys further development by setting their roles (Trier is improving at recognizing defensive pressure over 15 games with an attacking role). He's also gotta try to keep his one year guys happy too, which complicates things. Kanter is especially frustrating because he's getting plenty of minutes but acting like a brat but Burke and Hezonja immediately got press when they were benched too. It's not like Fiz hasn't taken some bold steps with the rookies all starting and Kanter off the bench; so I'm holding out some hope but starting to get more and more skeptical.

The real bold step I'd love to see...Forget cutting Kornet to make room for Trier. Kanter's not happy regardless of minutes, has no future with the team and is the focal point of offenses across the league (the Thunder game really laid that out)...I want this dude bought out and Luke Kornet (who I'm not even a fan of) can be our third big. That's a real rebuilding move. Free up time for the youth and dump an unhappy vet who is making a damned scene on the bench and twitter even after games where he plays big minutes.

I'd rather rebuild but if KD, Kawhi or Kyrie wanted to join the Knicks I wouldn't object. I don't believe Kemba is in the same tier as those players.
He alleviates huge needs ,a real pg and can run the offense he can be the number one option as well or switch with Kp
Would you give Kemba max money?
yes I would

Wall is overrated and overpaid, and fukk any trade for Beal that involves a first rounder or Knox. As good as Beal is, he isn't enough of an upgrade over Tim to warrant trading a pick for him.

I mean, he’s significantly better than Timmy. But i wouldn’t trade much for him. Not even next summer if we strike out.
