After we missed out on KD and Kyrie I had really low expectations, just hoping we don't do anything stupid like 58 million to Rozier.

Of course Pat Beverley would've been great but he took almost $10 million less to stay with Clippers. Lopez also would've been be great but I'm really happy with Taj. I'll take a worse player if he'll be more beneficial to Mitch and rest of the young guys. I also like that he's a NY guy.

My nikka NO shyt they're easily replaceable. They're all on 1 and 2 year deals INCLUDING Randle. You think the plan was to go out and sign major upgrades this year? If that were the case we would have overpaid for nikkas that are major upgrades. And then your dumb ass would be in here talking about how the Knicks overpaid. FOH. Knicks did what they said they were gonna do if Durant didn't come...stand pat and build through the youth. You don't understand that then that's on you not us.

Ellington and Bullock are 3 point specialists and necessary for a team to function in 2019. With Randle, RJ, Knox, DSJ they are especially needed to spread the floor. Portis is an upgrade over Vonleh/Hezonja.

Taj is a veteran presence that's needed on the team, I wish we can get another guy like that. Did you see the difference DeAndre made on Mitchell compared to Kanter?

And to further make your point look stupid

Kanter < Randle
Mario < Ellington
Vonleh = or > Bullock
Kornet < Portis
Lance Thomas < Gibson
Mudiay < Payton

DSJR still here
Knox still here
Mitch still here
Got RJ Barrett

What point are you making here? That the Knicks didn't get better? Lol

again, i dont wanna hear u crying about how certain players that were here last year arent gettin playing time or a chance to develop because of our new acquisitons:hubie:

cause all we did was create a log jam at almost every postion, which is similar to what happened last year. i don't no how u consider that building through the youth:snoop:

i was clearly naming our free agent signings from last year and our february acqusitions in comparison to our signings this year.
i said its more or less the same shyt.
i didnt even include deandre jordan just to be nice

you still don't get what i'm saying
the team improved by default, we won 17 fukking games last year man:dead:
if the brooklyn nets picked up the exact same players instead of us, you wouldnt blink a eye or be worried about them whatsoever

I'm skeptical about the logjams too tbh, but the offseason additions have a few characteristics in common that I'm really happy about seeing the Knicks emphasize.

- Every player is tough with a good motor. These are guys who don't let up and most of them bring that energy to both sides, although for some of them there are lapses.

- The focus was on spacing. Barrett and Iggy were top tier spot up shooters in college according to the advanced metrics. Then we added Portis and Taj to the big rotation which improves our spacing inside. Then Bullock and Ellington just became the top two most consistent three point shooters that we've got.

- Character...I know Portis got crap for the fight with Mirotic and then talking back to Wade. But with Wade it was definitely warranted, with Mirotic the rumors were it was Mirotic's fault and then after that we heard a lot of stories about how well liked Portis is. More importantly though, he's a workhorse. Randle has improved every offseason. My confidence in Barrett has always been based on his mental edge and work ethic. Gibson is a legit leader and presence. These are the types of dudes that will be in practice pushing each other like its a playoff game.

Last season's haul had upside but was a beggars can't be choosers mode. This season, there are some clear points of emphasis and the personnel is starting to reflect modern ball much better. We have a dynamic, ball in hand type of big man at PF. We've added spot up and three point shooters to create a shot chart that looks like the modern drive and kick based game. I also like that there's still room for young guys who contributed last year to progress and OWN their roles from last season. Bullock and Ellington will take those guys minutes only if those young cats stagnate. Dot and Knox can start over those two, but they'll have to keep improving and any let up will mean they lost their roles. I could see Payton beating out DSJ but I'm also looking at the bench frontcourt as Portis/Taj and thinking that spacing would make every court a playground for DSJ to run PnR's into the heart of some poor bench defense.
