I just don’t get why you can’t be patient on a 20 year old on a cheap contract. We’ve sucked for so long it’s either be patient with what’s going on or find another team to root for. Now I’m not with the tanking shyt this year I wanna see some progress.Frank should have the same leashas Dennis and Mudiay

I can definitely say this team won’t be tanking deliberately.

Entire starting lineup is under the age of 22, we’re gonna having growing pains and lose a lot of games. We’ll have a lot of hard fought games.

But I guarantee there won’t be blatant tanking.
I understand we won’t make the playoffs but I’d like to see some improvement in wins and chemistry. Something we can build on.
Agreed

I agree breh. I scream at my tv when I see him out on the court acting like a p*ssy. I really rooting for him and want him to do well so when I see things like that it frustrates me. I need him to be aggressive. fukk it shoot more drive more! If you get pulled then atleast you can say you tried. Cmon frank you’re working for a livelihood and relevance in the nba!

He's barely been mentioned here with all the draft, free agency and Knicks players talk, but Fizdale needs to prove that he's right coach leading forward. Never cared about the team record with the worst roster in the league, but holding players accountable and showing some semblance of a team identity shouldn't be too much too ask for. If they strike out in free agency, sign some good vets to short term deals.

I refuse to believe the neophyte kid who was out there working his ass off to defend and hitting clutch 3s late in his 7th game as a pro is gonna be the peak of his career. It makes no sense.

Random But Am I The Only One OVER Buying Into Ridiculous Off Season Hype?

I Don't Give A fukk How Much Muscle Frank Puts On

I Could Give 2 shyts That Knox Is Doing Insane Workouts 3 Times A Day

And I Could Give Less Of A fukk That Barrett Ate An Authentic NY Bagel In Brooklyn When He Was 12 And Told His Dad "FuhgettaBoutIt" While Playing Stick Ball

Win Some fukking Games And Maybe I'll Care, Show And Prove

Especially Frank, Put On Muscle, Grow 2 More Inches, Change The Release On Your Jumper, Get All These Believers Hyped, For What?

Show And Prove
I was done with all these workout/pick up game videos last season. Enes Kanter should be the proof that having any expectations based on off-season workouts/hype is a waste of time. Most of these players are who they are, very few show any improvement. And everyone looks great in workout videos (expect Isaiah Hicks :mjlol:).

As far as overrating Frank, that's normal. Every fanbase goes overboard with their players, especially draft picks. I'm still waiting for someone to give us a draft pick for Kuzminskas :troll:

It's going to have to be another tanking year guys, sorry.
Na, I honestly believe last year was the training year. A lot of rookies had a leash on them but this year the guys will show that they have the dog in them to show out. Guys that play like Mudiay will be descended to waterboy status. This is RJs rookie year so I don't expect him to a monster right out the gate but guys like Mitch, Knox and Dennis should show out.

fukk it, I'll play along.... this will be Frankie's breakout year. Fizdale will play him at the 1 and 2 with Dennis or Dotson. I see him playing like Vanvleet.

They need a few veteran leaders on the roster. I don't think they have anyone currently over the age of 25 under contract... you're not winning with a bunch of kids in the NBA.

If Vince Carter would come, he'd be perfect. True pro, won't bytch about minutes and can teach the kids how to play(same with Z-Bo)

They need a vet or 2 even if it's an injured KD because they have the knowledge. I'd shoot for the sky at Kawhi as well, even though we know he's not coming. I don't see us not getting any vets if we dont get the top free agents though so I think we'll be just fine.

Is the Knicks’ change in culture working?

A lot to like in this article but not too sure about the FA target list...some names on there that I am not fond of adding. Support good writing fam, click the link but here are highlights.

Here's the FA list:
New York has long been linked as a potential destination for Golden State Warriors free agent forward Kevin Durant. (Knicks general manager Scott Perry was part of the Seattle SuperSonics’ front office that drafted Durant.) But it remains to be seen how Durant’s Achilles injury affects things on both sides. The Knicks also are hopeful for a free agent meeting with 2019 Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard, according to a source, and have interest in New York City native Kemba Walker and New Jersey native Kyrie Irving.

The team is also interested in two players from Perry’s days as assistant general manager for the Orlando Magic: Philadelphia 76ers free agent forward Tobias Harris and Orlando Magic free agent center Nikola Vucevic.

Other free agents on the Knicks’ radar include their own free agent center DeAndre Jordan, Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins and twins Markieff and Marcus Morris. New Orleans Pelicans forward Julius Randle and the Knicks also have mutual interest, according to sources.

“We are going to have the opportunity to meet with the guys we want to meet with,” Mills said, without offering details or confirming names.

Two Kentucky kids avoided the Knicks in 2017. It was really that bad. But the turn around in a couple of years is really nice to read.
“That makes a huge statement when you have a big prospect like [Barrett] say, ‘This organization has a chance to be something special,’ and wants to be part of something like that,” Perry said. “That says a lot of about [me, Mills and Fizdale], that says a lot about the team. He obviously feels a connection to the city, the fan base and a connection to the three of us.”

Two years ago, that wasn’t necessarily the case.

During the 2017 NBA draft combine, Mills said, prospects from the University of Kentucky refused to meet with the Knicks.

“It was frustrating for me because I had never been in a situation where, especially rookies, there was a narrative amongst the young guys that they didn’t want to come play for the Knicks,” Mills said. “They didn’t want to meet with us in Chicago. I said, ‘We’ve got to change that and start with the young guys.’ ”

The sentiment toward the Knicks began to change after Knox, who played at Kentucky, expressed excitement about the possibility of joining the Knicks. New York drafted Knox ninth overall in the 2018 NBA draft.

Fizdale said the key for the Knicks’ change in reputation is personally “connecting with the players.”

“We treat our kids like they are our kids,” Fizdale said. “We don’t treat them like basketball players. We treat them like family members. We’re going to turn this by doing it, just not talking about it.”

I love hearing this part reinforced; especially in light of the media trying to paint the FO's comments throughout the season as promising max guys. That was never the case and what they say below is much more reflective of their messaging all season. I know because I've been skeptical about that ever since the Noah waive and stretch...but the more they say it, the more I feel like I can trust em.
While the Knicks have an opportunity to acquire a major free agent or two in July, they maintain they will be patient to make the right move or no move at all. Mills said that Knicks ownership is committed to a patient build with no pressure to sign free agents.

“Our plan wasn’t to create $70 million in room to go after free agents this summer,” Mills said. “Our plan was to organically build this team through teamwork, drafting well, getting high-character guys that want to compete. The [salary cap] space was a byproduct of that. If the right guys are there for us, great, because we still have all the young pieces and draft picks to move forward.

“And if they’re not, we’re going to keep building our plan, drafting our guys, playing well and potentially being trade partners. We feel really good about where we are going.”

Said Perry: “As an outsider coming in two years ago, I can’t tell you how many people have stopped me and said, ‘Stick to your guns. Keep doing what you’re doing. We like what you guys are doing.’ For so many years there has been detoured paths. ‘Oh, there is a shiny object over there. There is an aging star over there. Go grab the name.’

“No. We are trying to build a basketball team that will be good for a long time. Look at the teams in the [NBA] Finals, the final four and the elite eight in the playoffs, it took years to build those teams.”

Looks like the city is still a big player in the pitch.
“The opportunity to put a banner in that building? You’re not a competitor if you don’t want that,” Fizdale said.

Mills mentioned how revered former New York Yankees star Derek Jeter and former New York Giants star Lawrence Taylor are in the Big Apple. For an NBA player to win a title in New York with the Knicks, Mills believes “there is no other place that you can be as iconic.”

“This is the basketball capital of the world. The most important city in the world,” Mills said. “And to come here and win? This city is starved for winning basketball, a championship that counts in basketball. I don’t think there’s a better place where you can all of a sudden build your legacy and be iconic forever.”
