It's actually much worse. I wouldn't recommend this movie.

It definitely views like that as an overall piece, certainly on first viewing, I'd probably need to watch it again to digest it all (which I probably won't be doing), but its commentary on what's happening in our country right now (and the dissertation on serial killers, in general) is LvT in his most primal state, but unfortunately he ends taking the same road as he did in Nymphomaniac, and obviously if you're someone who's familiar with his work, it doesn't have the same effect.

Definitely not gory, but the violence and depravity are certainly harder to stomach because of their nature. There's one scene, in particular, in the act of killing that made me more uncomfortable than almost all the shyt in Antichrist, not because it was gory, or even extreme, but the realism of it.

and they all worship this mastro!Nicolas Winding Refn is close friends with Noe too, I always felt these three should form a stable of arthouse shock porn cinema.
And it would be gorgeous as hell.

I've never cared for any of Lars's work. He just goes out of his way to shock people IMO.

Watched it a few hours ago from what I remember...
woman gets her head bashed with a car jack, you see the end result of her forehead dented in.
Another woman is strangled then stabbed in the heart, blood pumps/squirts out then later her corpse is dragged behind a van... the plastic she was wrapped in is removed and u see her skull/face has been scraped off.
He strangles another woman to death.
Uses a hunting rifle to shoot a mother and her 2 kids. the violence is mostly implied, except when he shoots the mom in the back. He later mutilate's one of the kids corpse to have a smiley face.
Kills another woman by cutting her t*ts off the act isn't shown but he later lays one of the breast on a police car windshield then makes a wallet with the other.
A man gets stabbed in the jaw
