Probably my favorite player that I'm too young to have watched. I'm a laker fan but after watching The Magic/Bird documentary I gained so much respect for Bird. I started looking up everything about the guy. His competitive fire was incredible. His competitive nature was Kobe before Kobe :wow:. Dude doesn't get enough respect. Top 5 ever :yeshrug:
kobe would have jumped off a roof if he had to play bird regularly

the ether of this chicken lipped hulk hogan without the steroids floppy haired mess talking shyt and backing it up :whew:

#1 Craig Hodges
After Craig Hodges won the NBA All-Star Game Three-Point contest in Bird's absence, Hodges was asked if the victory was tainted because Bird hadn't participated. "He knows where he can find me," was Hodges retort. Told of Hodges' challenge, Bird replied, "Yeah, at the end of the Bulls bench."

#10 Dennis Rodman
Dennis Rodman on Larry Bird: "I would be all over him, trying to deny him the ball, and all Larry was doing was yelling at his teammates, I'm open! Hurry up before they notice nobody is guarding me!" then he would stick an elbow in my jaw and stick the jumper in my face, then he would start in on my coach "Coach you better get this guy out and send in somebody who's going to D me up, because its too easy when I'm wide open like this"

I remember the first time I played against Larry Bird. It was one of his last years, and Charles Barkley was already a star, but Larry was just killing Charlie. Then Armen took him, and he was killing Armen. I looked up from the Sixers’ bench and I said, “How the hell is he doing this, that skinny-assed white boy?” I said to Jim Lynam, “Put me in the game, Coach.”

He said, “You think you can handle him?”

I said, “Yeah, I can handle him.”

He put me in the game and the first thing Larry does is get the ball, look at me, and say, “Hey, rookie,” while he shoots a three-pointer in my face.

“Damn,” I say, “he ain’t gonna shoot the next one.”

The next time he gets the ball, he fakes and I jump about three feet off the ground and he dribbles around me and hits a layup. Then the next time I play it straight up, and he raises up and hits another jumper. He scores like 14 points in six minutes. He messed my mind up so much, I didn’t want to play basketball anymore. I just wanted to beat him up. I’d never been killed in a spurt that quickly.

So I’m back on the bench again and Charles Barkley is getting his ass ate up again. Jim Lynam looks down the bench at me and I just start staring up into the crowd. I have no eye contact with Jim. I do not want to go back in there and play Larry Bird again.

Uncertain grounds
:what: No because Bird is better overrall player than LeBron.

at some point this season, lebron will have matched birds amount of games played. lebron will need to have his best defensive year to match bird in career defensive win shares :mjpls:

bron never averaged a double double in a season, bird career average is 24/10/6 :mjpls:

10 rpg while playing with a HOF PF and C...and also while leading the league in threes made a few of those seasons :mjpls:

around 15% higher career FT%..exact same career FG%, higher 3pt %. :mjpls:

not sayin anything though. just reporting some information :sas2:
