LaMelo Ball and Manager Plan To Buy His Australian Pro Basketball Team
LaMelo Ball and Manager Plan To Buy His Australian Pro Basketball Team

4:32 PM PT -- HOLD UP, EVERYONE.

The Australian NBL just released a statement saying the deal is NOT official ... yet.

According to ESPN, the NBL confirmed there have been talks of Ball and Jackson buying the team, but the league says the team is still exploring all its options before giving the green light on the transaction.

So ... hang tight.

Look at this bullshyt quote from those bozos:

"I'm in touch with several former NBA GMs that want to go there to help out and high-level coaches that won every championship you can imagine."

:mjlol:

According to them, the RC Bufords and Phil Jacksons of the world are already lining up to get involved. :mjlol:

How much money are these teams worth? :pachaha:

It's hard to say. The entire league was bought for just $7 million a few years ago. But value had improved since then, a couple of the good teams were valued at $5-10 million by themselves recently. That's was before corona though, prices might have plummeted with an economic downturn and the potential for no games for a long time. And LaMelo's team was one of the worst teams too.

If you just wanted to own a team and you have the money available, it's probably not the worse time to buy. But if they're taking out a loan, putting up a significant amount of their liquid assets, or need to show profits anytime soon, it might be a risky bet. Either way though it's unlikely to be a "big" investment, people are thinking billion-dollar US teams when this is actually closer to the range of buying a local McDonald's restaurant.

Congrats on his new team but some of yall really show how much you know about business. With ownership comes risks and financial responsibility. Yea he bought a team...Athletes make investments and own companies and rights all the time. Why the fukk do yall think they end up going bankrupt so quick. Its not the cars or the houses that they pay in full. It's the investments and companies they buy that dont make money that drains there wealth due to liability. I'm not hating on young king Ball but yall need an education on this subject. Technically... he made a shyt investment for clout. You dont buy something that has only turned a profit once. But I'll let yall cook and we'll see once again where yall at in 2 years after he loses money.

Again...congrats...I woulda put that money somewhere else...

I guess it's a ballin move, perhaps not a major financial move. But dope entrepreneurship and inspiration for someone that young (if it was him and not pops who did it in his name). Instead of "wasting" it on a lambo truck or a 1000 pairs of Balenciagas.

Pretty sure the company will be a form of limited liability.

But in any event few sports teams make a lot of money, even the biggest teams in the world like Man United, Knicks and Rangers make like 20-150 million bucks, that's like J. Cole to Diddy. So imagine a small team, in a non-existent market, probably like Capadonna. People who buy these teams usually buy them for the same reason people buy expensive watches, either they enjoy the sport and want to own a team or they wanna ball. Not due to them being fantastic investments. Of course, if you did buy teams 20-50 years ago, the would be of value increase, seeing how sports has grown. But in 2020 it's a different thing.

I was thinking maybe the team was in the 2-5 million range and even then I was skeptical about the source of funds to do this

He may have the money but why would he take this on and not try to shore up BBB

I wish niccas would begin the practice of ALLOWING THE INK ON THE CONTRACT TO DRY FIRST BEFORE ANNOUNCING TO THE WORLD. U already know them Cacs HATE to see Black(ish) ownership....the deal is NOT DONE YET and this announcements could get them some leverage in the negotiations. :ld:

Probably on the lower end of that as the previous owners had folded it over. And expect that he's only putting up half of that cause he had to bring Jermaine in on it too. He should have that sort of money with the show stuff and whatever his dad has been paying him, if he doesn't than he's a fukking idiot with the way he's been spending on dumb shyt.

Like I said, a McDonald's would cost you $1-2 million and have a lot higher chance of being profitable. Though I think the plan to use his fame/experience to get other guys to jump straight to Australia and sign with his team isn't actually a terrible idea, but definitely a bit of a risk.

Yea this wouldn't be a smart investment at all. Much better places to invest your money, especially right now
