^we can't afford anyone :(

Moves will be made tho

The more the Lakers name keeps getting batted around the more I think nothing even remotely significant will happen.

Usually with the Lakers things'll be quiet as fukk then "BAM" monster trade.

It also was the Lakers who called the Wolves suggesting they offer second-year forward Derrick Williams to Charlotte for the No. 2 overall pick in the draft with the possibility of Charlotte then trading Williams to the Lakers as part of a three-way deal for the Wolves to get Gasol. The Wolves said no thanks.

The Hawks have been open to moving forward Josh Smith though they've resisted offers so far. Apparently the Hawks balked at a potential deal with the Lakers for Pau Gasol because L.A. wanted another major piece to go along with Smith. That would leave the Hawks with less than six players under contract, less talent, and no short-term cap relief because of the $38 million and two years remaining on Gasol's contract.

The Lakers have made preliminary inquiries about free-agent small forwards Nick Young and Brandon Rush, The Times has learned.

The Lakers and the Orlando Magic began preliminary talks about an Andrew Bynum-for-Dwight Howard trade, according to a report Sunday from Yahoo! Sports. Neither side has made an offer, according to the website, which cited an unnamed league source. The Lakers, Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets have spoken to the Magic about Howard, according to the story. Brooklyn is said to be Howard's preferred destination.

The Lakers talked to the Magic about dealing for Howard before the trade deadline last March 15, but then Howard said he would pick up his contract option for next season with the Magic and all trade talk ceased. Howard's agent, Dan Fegan, has told the Magic repeatedly recently that his client now wishes to be traded.

According to Yahoo!, the Magic wouldn't consider a deal with the Lakers without the 24-year-old Bynum heading to Florida. Bynum had a breakout season in 2011-12, averaging career bests of 18.7 points and 11.8 rebounds. He was injury-free and made the Western Conference All-Star team for the first time in his career.

Only Howard (14.5) and Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves (13.3) averaged more rebounds last season than Bynum.

Bynum was once thought to be untouchable because Lakers executive Jim Buss, son of team owner Jerry Buss, was so enamored of the 7-footer. Bynum's frequent displays of immature behavior rubbed coach Mike Brown and his staff, general manager Mitch Kupchak and several teammates the wrong way in 2011-12.

Brown benched Bynum after he shot an ill-advised 3-pointer during a March 27 game against the Golden State Warriors. Kupchak then fined Bynum after he skipped a scheduled meeting to discuss the situation. Bynum declined at times to join huddles during timeouts because he said he was "getting my zen on" on the bench.

Howard has issues of his own, including a season-ending back injury that forced him to withdraw from the U.S. Olympic team. Just as important, his state of mind also has been called into question over the last year. He had a difficult relationship with Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy, which led to Van Gundy's firing at season's end.

Then there was Howard's apparent desire to leave Orlando for Brooklyn, which was quieted when he declined to opt out of his contract for next season with the Magic and then became an issue again in recent weeks. The Magic's firing of Van Gundy was seen as an attempt to please Howard and keep him in the fold.

Sessions is a back up at best. Not starter material.

Sessions is good, just has never been THE MAN on a team. Been stuck up there in bumfukk Cleveland but he was putting up numbers.

I'm willing to give him a full training camp and seeing what he can do. His 'the lights are too bright' performance in the playoffs turned me off, but there was a reason I was hoping the Lakers would get him. Hopefully Mike Brown doesn't handcuff him.

A source close to Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum’s camp reiterated that while he is not hoping to be traded, he would not be opposed to a rumored move that would send him to the Orlando Magic in exchange for disgrunted center Dwight Howard.

Bynum has long been interested in taking the next step in his career and becoming the featured option, something that is years away from happening in L.A. Playing for the Magic would give Bynum the opportunity to prove himself as a franchise player as he looks to earn a max contract once his current deal expires.

Bynum is set to become a restricted free agent at the end of next season. However, he’s eligible to receive a maximum extension through next June. It’s still too early in the process to know if the Orlando Magic have genuine interest in swapping Howard for Bynum and if they’d rather extend him immediately or wait if they did.

PTBG...what you posted is something that Lakers fans need to look very closely at.

Bynum is a restricted free agent after the 2012-13 season, he will command the max, so Pau has to go one way or another.

Kobe is set to make 28 and 30 mil over the next two years :damn: Gasol 19 mil and 19 mil :damn:

You cannot afford 3 max players. The way things are going the Lakers may be done by 2013.

Yea, thats what I'm worried about, but I'm confident that we can trade Pau and get the best available assets for him and just go from there. I wished we can reconstruct Kobe's contract, cuhz he is getting paid too much and is taking up our cap space though. Right now, the key thing to do is trading Pau and go from there, even if its a trade in which we might not get the better end of the stick, but we gotta trade Pau cuhz we have to max out Andrew, and just go from there.
