The Cleveland Cavaliers may have inched ahead of the Houston Rockets as a facilitator in a potential trade that would send Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers, sources said Wednesday. One source familiar with the talks, though, cautioned not to make too much of that shift just yet. The Cavaliers would land Lakers center Andrew Bynum for a package of draft picks and veteran power forward Anderson Varejao, according to one league source. The Lakers would receive Howard for Bynum. Orlando would get Varejao and draft picks. The source said this was merely the framework of a deal being discussed. Cavaliers general manager Chris Grant was in Las Vegas watching summer-league action but made an unplanned return to Cleveland, sources say, and is not expected to return. In the frenzy of anticipating if, when and where Howard might be dealt, such otherwise innocuous events have been enough to inspire massive speculation that a deal is near. The Lakers have engaged both the Rockets and Cavaliers in their attempt to land Howard, sources say, because those two teams have both interest in acquiring Bynum, and have the requisite salary-cap room to accept larger player salaries than they send out in a deal. Andrew Bynum loves Cavs coach Byron Scott and loves PG Kyrie Irving, says source close to him.

In that situation, they wouldn't get to unload any bad contracts. Besides, who knows how Bynum is going to behave once that situation is actually there and he has to pick a team.

It's going to be hard for the Magic to "win" in this deal but trading Dwight for someone they would trade for draft picks just prolongs the process. Bynum could easily come to Orlando and tear his knee apart anyway.

and even if he doesn't, it's not like he's a guy you put the building behind anyway. They'll probably suck regardless.

Im hoping Cleveland arent as wishy washy as they seem and come through in this three way.

Kyrie and Bynum would be a nice tandem for them also.

Yeah, fukk dan gilbert but he'd be an idiot to not take a chance on Bynum. Him and Kyrie would be great together.

Andrew Bynum was such a real ass nikka brehs, he had 1 stretch of self destruction and being a punk, but honestly he recovered his knee and won't disrespect and disappoint us again.

I officially, by the power vested in me through years of Kobe stanning declare that I DO NOT want Dwight Howard, and would prefer the up and coming GOAT Andrew Bynum.

If you feel like being fooled again then yeah. To be honest, I wish we could hire Steve Urkel to build a time machine and bring back Kareem or Shaq. fukk Dwight and Bynum.

Cleveland to me makes perfect sense as a landing spot for Bynum. He'll clearly be the number 2 on the totem pole. Gives them a good inside/out tandem with Kyrie. The big key would be getting Bynum to agree to an extension though cause you don't want to end up ass out in the long run.

Bynum isn't mentally stable enough to try and build around as a first option like he'd be in Houston. But I'd definitely take a chance with him if there's another player there that's just as good if not better.

Now with Jamison signed I see the Lakers picking of Jodie Meeks and JO while J Hill signs with the T Wolves.

An improvement but still a lacking bench.

Nash/Blake
Kobe/Meeks
Peace/Ebanks
Gasol/Jamison
Bynum/JO

A legitimate contender and still behind the Heat/Thunder. But ahead of the Spurs/Bulls.
