Hearing a lot of mixed reactions. Sucks this doesn't seem to be amazing hit that it could have been. Gonna really need for these Black creatives to step it up.

St Louis Rams!!!!!
First ep was good. After that, the story goes all over the place. If yasuke wasn't the title, you would hardly have any idea what this is about

Tells very little of yasuke story. Also didn't help he was getting his ass beat majority of the story.

Thought this was going to be like an origin story smh. This shyt was more about the little girl and nothing is explained at all. Netflix dropped a dud with this

Theme song and action scenes are on point, this might be the hardest thing I've seen on Netflix in a minute :blessed:
Although, I'm a little disappointed they took Yasuke story in the route of sci-fi elements.... on the other hand it does knit an interesting story :yeshrug:

Would have looked better if Yasuke wasn't designed to look shyt.

Its documented dude had no body markings.

The Japanese drew this dude in drawers with no scars.

Why does he have scars? Where did they come from? Japanese whipped nobody.

Why does he look like a minor ethnic character with his entire design?

Yasuke looks like he was going to be killed off in his debut episode to motivate the real protagonist.

LeSean Thomas sucks btw. He the type of dude to say green people like piccolo are black. That shyt is legit retarded. Dude not doing black people any favors by continuing racist shyt.

Beautiful presentation overall. animation and visuals on point and the soundtrack is better than last time...but man this dude is just a bad writer.

I gave Cannon Busters a pass on this front but this series too is just nonsensical. They're in 13th century Japan with magic, robots, shamans, giant mechs, telekinesis, a animorph woman wearing 80s clothes....and no explaination for any of it.

Somehow a story that starts with a boy asking a retired Samurai for a boat ride down a river turns into demons, robots and magic in less than an episode.

Lesean's approach still comes off as a well made fan project on youtube and not a full fledged fully planned out story. Just a mess that tries to incorporate anything someone's nephew could possibly think of into a show, and give it some of that black flavor. I want to like it without feeling like some kind of lemming.

It could have worked as a movie maybe.
The brother that did Canonbusters did this?:francis:

Give Flying Lotus his props but that’s where it stops:francis:
Thundercat on the vocals

Edit:
Ghost of Tsushima laid the blue print for anything going forward:wow:
It showed a grounded story can be told without robots and magic
Yasuke history is too rich for this:francis:

I just saw the first couple of episodes and I think it's just OK. I know LaKeith Stanfield is a laid back dude but there is a difference between sounding laid back and at times being lethargic. Also I feel like this story would have benefited from being a lot more grounded. Maybe something in the Samurai Champloo realm.

DT said it basically turned into a story about the little girl :russ:

Imma still peep off the strength of fly lo, Grammy award winning artist thunder cat and lakeith, but it sounds like they fukked this up :snoop:

Bama ass DC
Joint was ok.
It was kinda all over the place. And breh was sometimes this amazing warrior and other times was getting the beats and had to get saved every single time :dahell:
And yall right they never explained where all these folks coming from with these powers and stuff.
Voice acting was meh too. Lakeith has a passive voice and he never flipped it to a powerful voice. It never fit. But towards the end of the series his number of lines diminished greatly.
Its only 6 episodes so thats a huge plus. Super easy to finish.

It felt like he tried to cram a 24 episode series into 6 rather than doing a proper limited series. He's not a strong writer, but some of the issues felt like cuts rather than purely symptoms of poor writing.
