Lakeith Stanfield will star as the first African samurai in Netflix’s anime series ‘Yasuke’ 2021

I'm intrigued by the concept, and by these American-made Netflix 'animes' in general, but 'Executive Producer LeSean Thomas' does not fill me with much hope.

Cannon Busters was a major letdown, especially considering how many years of hype it had.

He was barely in get out and barely in uncut gems. I never saw knives out. Anybody could have played his role in Judas and the black messiah and done much better in fact. He doesn’t elevate the role much beyond what’s written on the page and that’s why he is so middle of the pack. Dude said he needed therapy for playing a snitch in Judas, what was so challenging about his role in that movie. The story is what carried the film not his acting. You’ll see what I mean on full display with this show. The crazy thing is his limitations is evident alone in this short trailer which is why brehs are pointing it out.

Man y’all were right. The visuals were good but Lakeith ruined it. Besides sounding bored, his voice lacked authority.

Maybe it’ll be better in the full series but I can’t see how.

They should have hired a proper voice actor. Lakeith's voice is too contemporary for my taste and he sounds bored.

Crazy enough, he was the best thing about Death Note.

This is dope. Yasuke was one of Nobunaga's loyal retainers. They depicted him in the Nioh series as the Obsidian Samurai and he was ill.

I've been waiting on Hollywood to make this story for years. Lakeith in the spotlight. In. Im fukking in!
