All of this. The moms story seemed wAy more interesting than the main characters but it is what it is. I enjoyed the movie thoughMovie was real good IMO. Started off slow but got better as it went along. Very Love Jones influenced which is a plus for me, soundtrack was on point. Only complaint was the back story relationship(Christina and Isaac) felt better developed then the main story relationship(Mae and Michael).
BTW, Issa in that yellow dress when they were down in Louisiana was

Maybe saying "two darker skinned people" or "two brown skinned people" would've been better, but folks arguing semantics are missing the point
Notice how Issa Rae pointed to herself when he said it.
Black love movies more often than not have at least one light skin love interest, like that's the standard, and most of the time it's the female.
See the difference:
Most Black folk are brown skin, and most Black couples look like the first and last pic.

Lakeith Stanfied has officially graduated to the other side to me. Simply put if I see his name attached to a project I want to see it because it’s going to be either good or quirky and I like both.

Yeah, I see what y'all mean. My homie and I are both Haitian he has Stanfield's complexion while I'm just a bit little lighter than Kaluuya. Homie was seen as the regular black or brown breh (guess they assumed he was AA) while I was labeled the "charcoaled nikka"

I just wanted to see an unambiguous black woman as a romantic lead. For that alone, I supported the movie. I enjoyed it.

I never heard of brown skin until Twitter. I always thought we used light and dark to described the brown.
