Every year major corporations lay off people around this time...and every year they use some kind of scapegoat for the layoffs.
A lot of the times companies will blame the government...Sony is using Lady Gaga.

Think about it...if 100 jobs were based on how one album does...the person who should be fired is the one that made the decision to spend all the damn money they didnt have.

Ehh who knows, i dont imagine its really 25 million, but thats just a guess its not an order of magnitude off... for instance right before recovery eminem did a promotional concert that tied into some activision cross promotion, and activision reportedly paid 6 million for that alone... eminem has a deal for bizerk to be played in all football games for the remaining winter months, how much do you think that costs? marketing and promotional also includes all the money used to get spins across the nation, there are at least 500 individual radio stations that have to be accounted for... even if it was only 10,000K per radio station thats already up to 5 million... of course it aint really paid out just like that but the promotional costs of trying to get a single to blow all across the country is pretty significant... the music industry is big business, and in business you spend money to make money, especially in hit driven industries, spending 20 mill to make 40 mill is not really unusual... look at the budgets for movies and video games compared to their actual returns...

now i have no clue what her budget really was i would guess closer to 10 million max, but I really have no clue, who knows... just saying its probably off by a factor of 2 not an order of magnitude off...

Drake, Jay-z, Eminem latest albums doubled those numbers.

It's a different sales game with pop acts. With Hiphop albums a majority of their sales are in the first week. Pop is a longevity game. Imagine Dragons did Hall of Flop numbers their first week (83,000). It's now gone on to sell over 1.5 million
