It's a different sales game with pop acts. With Hiphop albums a majority of their sales are in the first week. Pop is a longevity game. Imagine Dragons did Hall of Flop numbers their first week (83,000). It's now gone on to sell over 1.5 million

True, they get steady sales in the pop game. Katy Perry is still going to push unites once her other singles drop. Lady Gaga is losing ground in the pop arena. She has gotten too weird that she alienates casual listeners.

Sure, she flopped compared to her last album. But it's still $250,000 units - I find it hard to believe that will cause layoffs.

Especially considering this, in relation to her last album:

After all that talk about underperforming singles and creative bankruptcy and overexposure, Lady Gaga did exactly what she was supposed to do with Born This Way, her first album since officially branding herself a superstar: sell a ridiculous number of units. The exact number, 1.1 million in the first week, is startling — but it comes with a caveat. That final tally was greatly boosted by the fact that Amazon, looking to drive people toward their new Cloud Drive music locker service, dropped the price on Born This Way’s digital release to an all-new loss-leader low of 99 cents. Over the two days of the offer, the album was downloaded 440,000 times, roughly two thirds of its overall digital sales count. So how much did Amazon cough up in the process?

THEY LOST $3 MILLION IN FIRST WEEK SALES LAST TIME.

The music business is dying.

I'm hearing that rumor is false.

Yeah the RUMOR IS FALSE

It says in this article THE EXAMINER has constantly put out false sensational stories for views

THE REAL DEAL IS...although LADY GAGA did experience. a 40% drop since its debut week

NO JOBS ARE BEING CUT

Because LADY GAGAs project had numerous sponsors and underwriters to foot the bill

kind of like JAY Z SAMSUNG deal

with INTERSCOPE suffering no exposure

:mindblown:

She would have to sell 2.5 million just to break even

What did her last disc do?????

WHAT THE fukk WERE THEY THINKING??????????? :bryan:

I'm assuming single sales are measured too, which would make it easier to break even than having to sell 2.5mil albums. Still she's not gonna break even.

I don't listen to the radio or watch much tv outside of sports so I didn't see any marketing. I wonder what type was it? Why market a product with a weak single. I remember hearing Born This Way and thinking "sounds like a Madonna song, this is a hit." Whereas Applause is like some lazy ass shyt that even gay dudes probably ain't feeling.

If Interscope made over $1 billion off Eminem, you know they milked at least $50m off the Gaga wave so taking a 25 loss ain't shyt to Jimmy.
