The bigger thing to me tho is this, the label didn't lose $25 million, gaga did. We all know how labels work. Gaga is in the red for $25 million and she has to make that up. Sure you can say just tour or whatever, but if she is already spending like there's no tomorrow and is now another $25 million in the red you know how this story ends. As far as I understand the entire original article is a falsehood, but dude is right... Labels charge artists for everything... its all about keeping the artists broke... remember when TLC came off waterfalls and were flat broke and owed the label money although the album sold stupid...

The Pop genre is not as lucrative for long term sales and it's almost like hitting the lottery for these artists to have a loyal fan base. I find artists that are authentic to a certain genre of music and bring something original and at the sametime produce high quality product and not garbage are doing well lady gaga is competing in a lane where there is too many acts and the fanbase is so fickled in the pop world. Thats why I don't understand how artist like usher try and go pop and try and make a quick buck and then find out that shyt's and even bigger flop.

Absolutely. For my job I was at a place last week where they make cd's, blue-ray dvds and their guys arent expecting to see the company last another 7 years.

The funny thing is I feel she would be doing better right now if she had just focused on the music because she does have talent. This isn't a girl that was just pulled off the street, she is fairly knowledgeable about music and can do a lot of things. Gimmicks will only get you so far.

Not for nothing but a few years back I remember reading this article where gaga was crying broke. She said even tho she sold a lot of records and tours, the costs for her stage shows and outfits are astronomical. Think about it man, it's not like you can walk into JC Penny and get a meat purse. She walks outside dressed like a wooly mammoth and it's not like she paid a $100 for that outfit. That's a huge expense being that outrageous.

i highly highly doubt gaga paid 25 million out of pocket for her own promotion or the label charged her for it

shes been a cash cow for her label and they invested in her again and lost
