An infusion of young talent via lottery picks is the best bandaid for an nba team. It makes you forget about all of the bad decisions that led to them being a lottery team.
In hindsight, the only really bad decision we made was trading 2 1st rounders for Dragic. I like Dragic but that was a high price to pay especially for a team that did NOT have pick to begin with and i still hate how we often still trade picks away so easily. While Riley's intention was to have Wade, Dragic and Whiteside together it just didnt work out that way. 1 first rounder was plenty for a 29 y/o Dragiç.

As far as draft picks go I think we drafted fairly well for the picks we had. Back in 2009 we totally fukked up the Beasley pick.

Once again Pat Riley gonna tell nikkas to eat a dikk and not question his vision
He didn't have a very good vision when he gave Whiteside a max contract and overpaid Tyler. :mjlol: The Don was being careless with the bag and gave away first round picks when our assests were low. Despite all that Pat able to bounce back from the offseason.

Your timeline is off. Riley’s intention was Wade, Dragic, and Bosh. Nobody’s fault that Bosh went out with a medical emergency.

Dragic trade made sense. Pat's idea was wade, bosh and dragic which would have been a good core. Hassan and dion were the bad moves and cost us jrich

Here's how I see it.

  • Dragic - I love Dragic and I love that we brought him here but i just feel the price tag was a bit high. He wanted out of Phoenix so they had to trade him and no other team was gonna give PHX 2 1st rounders for him. We should have went with a 1st and a 2nd. But oh well.
  • Hassan was a good move that turned out bad because he's a headcase. We spent a lot for LeBron (2 1sts) and he left. We spent nothing for Whiteside and he blew up. It's just that he let his ego get in the way. I really liked homie...until the 2nd year after we paid him. But at the same time we would have been foolish to let him walk.
  • Dion ... sigh... I was and am still fine with the yearly salaries we gave Dion and JJ. That's just the going rate for productive rotation players in the league right now. My issue was the LENGTH of these contracts. We should have given them either 2 year contracts or 3 year contracts with the 3rd year being a team-option to keep them motivated. YOu dont give journeymen player-options. That's for stars and all-stars.
  • Olynyk's contract is still a good deal. He's a highly sought after player in the league and we're paying him the going rate.
  • Tyler Johnson's contract tho... :snoop: I wanna talk to Tyler's agent to see which Haitian bòkò he went to for that voodoo spell to get NBA GMs to pay him like that and then have the Heat match. I need a highly lucrative offer for my next job offer. I understand that was the summer when a lot of bad NBA players got sick deals (See Kent Bazemore in Atlanta and many more) but that deal was absurd. Does anyone remember why that was? Was that the summer when they had the huge hike n the cap?
