lol I kinda feel sorry for Ballmer. He's trying to make the Clippers exciting for the fans, but that team is going nowhere.
Majority of championship contenders had at least one important piece who's been with their team since day one. Like Wade in Miami big 3, or Pierce in Celtics big 3, or Kobe in threepeat era, or Curry and Klay in those Warrior championship years.
Clippers have none of that, all their important pieces got traded from elsewhere or signed via free agency. Fans who come to see them don't have that connection like: "here's the guy I watched since day one play for my team and we're gonna win this championship with him and other pieces".
Their best bet was in Blake and CP3 era since they drafted Blake and he was their star. Peg leg, playoff Memphis Bleek and Scam Gawd don't have that connection with Clipper fans. This is the same problem Nets have. A rebranded franchise buying names, but fans can't really relate to them much.
Now imagine Clippers didn't trade Shai. He'd be a guy LA fans could relate to. A star in the making who's been in LA since day one. Finishing 2nd in MVP voting, maybe worth to see what Clippers are trying to build with him. But they traded him, oh well.
