Wrong way to look it at. If it gets samples later on or in a movie that’s big money right there
It's big money being invested in tech and seeing the kind of yields and dividends that billionaires are experiencing right now.

Billionaires' wealth rises to $10.2 trillion amid Covid crisis

There is greater financial freedom and possibility for much higher yields by selling and investing in a diversified portfolio than just staying stuck to a small group (in the grand scheme of things) of artists forever.

black love, unity, and music
All these old heads sold out. Motown, Soul Train, BET etc. Imagine if those platforms were still around and black owned smh. Black artists could have a platform “owned” by us. What a shame to sell your work to whites :scust:
Exaclty. these music c00ns are ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC!

Streaming has never been so valuable! WTF?

No. You looking at it wrong.... Let’s just say owning my publishing has grossed me 40 mil over 20 years, but this company wants to give me 80 mil lump sum right now. Why wouldn’t I do that?

Maybe the earning on old music ain’t what it used to be. All these super producers ain’t doing this for no reason. Rza, timberland, no id , La Reid
:patrice:

Might be a new dupe by the old heads to get them to sell. Like an Iovine type telling the movie studios “dont buy any r&b or rap songs” until them royalties sizzle out they offer a lump sum them boom u got whitney houston songs in the next fukking gap and tampax commercials

If it was just the new cats selling I would agree

but La Reid? Ain’t no duping that man, hes pretty much ran the industry the last three decades. Timbaland and dark child? Those are vets who know the industry in and out and have been collecting royalties for over two decades.

What’s the chances of that happening though for RZA years down the line?
Never underestimate nostalgia and like someone said this company ain’t buying the music for no reason.

Who knows, one day some European edm producer might sample your song and it becomes the next “Levels” by Avicii.
