Let a 'moderate' Republican run who isn't a Trump dikkrider and doesn't shyt on John McCain and they win the primary (and probably the general) in a landslide.

Arizona is probably the craziest state in the Union, and the state party is batshyt crazy. They are the same state party that censored Cindy McCain.

In 2022, their nominees for Governor, US Senate, and Secretary of State were all election deniers. If Kari Lake doesn't win this primary, whoever wins it will likely be even crazier than she is.

she beat that kind of establishment candidate to get the nomination. in the primary, the enthusiasm is for the crazies
McSally is charisma-free, which helped, but yeah, the AZ GOP is the party of Chemtrail Kelly, etc. A bunch of lunatics.

AZ Republicans have the same issues that the national party has about threading the needle between who can win a primary and who can win national elections. Good news for anyone who hates Republicans.

Her descent isn’t normal, given the speed. To the point that if I was a conspiracy man I’d wonder about extortion, sex scandals, etc. Sure many if not most who go to Washington change but how often do you see a liberal activist type turn into the ultimate corporate stooge? This is someone who actively attacked and criticized Joe Lieberman at one point. Then she became Joe Lieberman.

This strain of centrist both sides-ism has no real support base outside of the slopes of Aspen. I don’t think her democratic colleagues like her either, so the relationships she’s fostering with republicans will be how she cashes in as a lobbyist later. But she prob still has to do a few more things for them to really make that job successful. Which means she prob has one more big fukk-you in store for democrats.

Her voting record was actually pretty centrist when she was in Arizona’s senate. There’s a pretty good article in this very thread that shows we may have missed some stuff when it came to Sinema. I think more than anything she saw this as a sign to get a big pay day and retire

I’m not buying some conspiracy about her. I think she just got offered a bunch of money and couldn’t turn away from it, and to be frank the saying “everyone has a price” doesn’t exist for nothing :yeshrug:

True. On the other end I can't help but look at the other AZ senator, whose seat seemed far more tenuous. Who voted pretty liberal (by Arizona standards, I suppose) and sailed to reelection. Sinema could have been a normal democrat or even somewhat liberal while bringing in plenty of corporate money and kept her seat. Everyone has a price sure, but this is greed on a wild level. The corruption her and Manchin seem to be involved in is wild. And it's so blatant and in your face. They get to parade around and boo hoo about the most minor inside baseball shyt while cashing checks in our face.

I also still think the entire independent thing was planned months before November under the assumption that democrats were about to get blasted. That didn't happen and she still went through with her plans, now she looks like an idiot.
