And eventhough Kyrie has a different skill set than Russ, he's just as good a player. I would actually feel better about building a championship contender around Kyrie than Russ.

i'm not gonna act like i know everything about this situation, but kyrie seems like the type to be fine with a less than stellar outcome, he just wants his credit. portland aint built to beat the warriors or houston but they play hard so lillard and cj get their just due. secondly, like i said, i don't think kyrie needs to be #1 as in "this is my team only" he just wants to be tier one on whatever team he's on - if it's minny, you're gonna talk about him, butler and KAT. the way it is now is it's lebron, then kyrie/love, then the rest. you can't be on a lebron team and not be in his shadow, you can't have success on a lebron team and it not be 99% attributed to lebron
What other team is he gonna go to, get to the finals and be lauded as a top tier player in the league?
Look at John Wall.. took 5 years for him to get just a bit of the kind of recognition he been seeking because as the #1, he's teams haven't been anything worth talking about. It's more to this story.

I personally think Kyrie is a top 5 player in the NBA and a true superstar talent. I believe he will be a smashing success on his own and could potential lead a team to a championship. I welcome Kyrie going out there to try and prove his worth.
Why are you so hell bent on him not even trying to prove himself? Maybe its cause you're scared that if he goes out there and wins a ring without LeBron, it'll diminish all those myths about LeBron leading the 2016 Cavs to the ring.
