draft had 8 all-stars (parker, joe johnson, gasol, chandler, z-bo, arenas, wallace, okur)
parker is a guaranteed HOFer
gasol is a potential HOFer
chandler is a former DOPY
all three of them played key roles on championship teams.

then you got other good players like jefferson, battier and richardson + some key role players who had long careers.

you can't call that an awful draft class. shyt the draft before it and the draft after it were both worse.

I guess u right. Jerome Williams was called a legend too. So I guess if u played in the Nba for a long time u get that title
pau gasol was the second best player on 2 lakers championship teams.
tony parker was the second best player on at least 2 spurs championship teams.

If he started his career with Kobe, he would have been an all star imo. Cheese eyes ruined him.

As a Laker fan I'll always be a fan of Kawme. His big contract helped the Lakers get Pau and Pau in returned helped the Lakers win 2 titles so he's good in my book

Did you just say that 2001 was a bad draft? :dahell:

‘01 ended up being a great draft, and it was also a revolutionary draft.

Kwame was the first ever #1 pick out of high school. Lebron was the second. :wow:

Pau was the first Euro to be taken in the top 5. Over the next couple of years, GMs were blowing top 5 picks on bums like Darko Milicic, Nikoloz Tstikitizvili, and Andre Bargnani looking for the next Pau or Dirk. :mjlol:

The top 4 picks all didn’t go to college. This was the beginning of the explosion of HS players which caused the NBA to create the age limit. :mjpls:

The draft was filled with late bloomers because of all the 18 year olds and Euro prospects. The early returns on the draft were negative, but a lot of dudes found their niche in the league down the line. Except Kwame.

The media wasn’t used to waiting for guys to develop. Back then, it you didn’t produce right out the gate then you were bushed. Nowadays, it ain’t nothing to draft a project in the lottery.

The last 4-year college player to be taken #1 was Kenyon Martin in 2000, and that’ll never happen again. The ‘01 draft changed the game, and given how :trash: the 2000 draft was, it was for the better.
