never understood the appeal, but it's wild how a lot of black people who like Nirvana, really like their music
so i think that's dope in a way
Facelift> Ten > Nevermind
Alice in Chains > Nirvana
And today is also 17 years since Layne Staley died.
I liked a good chunk of his shyt but gimmie Alice/Pearl/Garden, hell even MUDHONEY over the common majority that is the Nirvana Catalogue any day.
You met courtney
Twice, actually. Smelt bad those two times; like she had that not so stereotypical 'wet dog' smell white folk have when they get all nautical and refuse to shower properly. I met her through this blind broad I was sleeping with (lol, I'm serious) who knew I liked rock music and she sorta setup a meet since she knew folk that knew her and they all hung in the same circle. I'm not gonna lie, I was a bit awe struck at the time, since she was an infamous celeb that was intimate with a very famous rock musician.
The second time she helped us get into a venue that had Slayer on the bill and we had no tickets. She was nice enough and all things considered, I would have tried to get closer to her during that brief novelty period where she seemed really surprised that a breh from the Caribbean (She thought I was Jamaican, obviously.) liked and knew about Heavy Metal and Grunge as opposed to Bob Marley and fukking living colour.
Superunkown > Ten> Nevermind
Whoa!
That's that MTV effect. MTV was a HUGE proponent of a lotta acts cross all genres being more popular that their betters.
MTV = Right place right time
Overrated, moderately talented, and lucky enough to have a blond, blue-eyed lead singer. Nirvana's music is some of the first music guitar players are cursed to have to learn.
No it wasn't. Nevermind is a classic album. So is Ten. Don't know about superknown though.
Yall hating on Cobain though.

Cobain's shyt was mainly basic chords played in catchy distorted grooves using standard tuning and him being blond and blue eyed had little to do with their popularity since there were MANY of his contemporaries who looked just as blond and blue eyed as him but pewtered out from drugs, self destruction and obscurity back in them days.
While I still maintain that any musican list that features Cobain higher than the first ten on the bottom rung of it and says "Best" instead of "Popular" is damn near irrelevant, his music is actually really simple to learn how to play and garner some proficiency when it comes to chord progression and playing in key and all that, which ain't bad at all.
If you like grunge in ANY shape or form and ain't listened to this album or anything else from the Garden, you're doing yourself a major disservice. Like, fukkin' SERIOUSLY. Head down shyts on damn near anything Kobain made and don't even get me started on Alice.
Chris Cornell was one of the greatest voices and songwriters ever!!!!!!
