I love KRS but his style can be bland to me at times. I've been meaning to get my hands on this album for a while tho. I need a link to check it out and have a better opinion in this thread

i've heard most of 80s/90s shyt, and good amount of his stuff since the 2000s.
he's very legendary, can perform his ass off, has always repped the culture of hip hop to the fullest, and has a very large catalog, but he's just not that great on wax. but i'm not saying he didn't earn his stripes of course.

If you've listened and it's your just not feeling it I don't think there's anything wrong with that, just your preferance, everyone got different opinions. Personally think he's incredible on wax with a lot of classic material but at least your being honest with your opinion instead of just saying he's dope to you to appease others.

Of all the classic rappers in the game KRS has fallen off the least, his catalog from 2001-today is as good as any and Survival Skills is perhaps the best of them. KRS has cemented his status as a God MC.

:beli:

Let's not act like KRS has not had some questionable steps. His first two albums were ground breaking and great.

Edutainment was a nice concept but was not executed well. Autobiography of Kirk Jones and Disposable Arts are examples of concepts that were carried out a LOT better.

I Got Next - while it had some real gems "Step in a World" it had some horrid duds; "Come to the Party"

The Sneak Attack - :snoop: why, why and WHY? did he make this?

Spiritual Minded - :scusthov: :comeon: AGAIN??? Basura kid!

Bottom line. Kris has been VERY inconsistent throughout his career. Next to the Roots, and maybe Kane, he has THE BEST live performance. Survivor Skills is a hot album..great seeing Buckshot (who also has a good stage show.

But Nas' career, albumwise and lyrically >>>>>>> KRS-One

Yeah, saying nobody raps better than KRS is simple minded and based in nostalgia and a denial of the lyrical advances the hip-hop scene has had in it's brief history. It's simply wrong

The album was dope but KRS just lacked that umph that he had in mid 90s on this album. Buck can make mediocre lyrics still sound good while KRS struggles with that.

KRS shines on the subject matter(always has) but his bars have been basic or above avg the past 10 or so yrs. Still check for him though cuzz his music for the most part has been above avg overall the last 15 yrs and takes a healthy dump on the majority of shyt that has been coming over the years.

His lyrics have taken a nose dive since 98. My main problem with KRS was he was too much of quantity over quality. It worked from 87 to 97 but after that we have gotten a lot material that has been subpar for KRS's standards. I like how he has scaled back a little with albums last few yrs.
