Obviously Ghost, Rae, Biggie brought it to the mainstream but the first cat I can recall name dropping crime family names and mafioso themes was Kool G Rapβ¦

It's arguable. Rakim had a mafia theme on the Follow The Leader video, but the song has zero mafia content. Can't recall anything else prior.
