This movie was so fun. :banderas:

Most beautiful action flick for me since maybe Fury Road, this thing was a joy to look at. Scenery was gorgeous, the action sequences (especially with fire) really popped, and both the hell of war mixed with the surrealism of seeing giant monsters before your eyes was conveyed exceptionally well. Samuel L. Motherfukking Jackson being Samuel L. Motherfukking Jackson is always a good time, and I'll agree with whoever said John C. Reilly stole the show. He even had the first half of the credits dedicated to his character's journey, dude really held it down on the comedic and emotional front. Hiddleston and Larson were really just kinda there like someone else mentioned. Hiddleston did his thing in some of the action sequences and Brie was useful to be the chick who warmed the heart of the beast (kind've but not really) like the old Kong films but it was really every other character who got more shine and came across as more than just star power in this thing. They didn't dikk tease you like Godzilla did either and half show any action scenes before panning away or avoiding showing the monster in general, Kong is all throughout this mostly fukking up whomever comes in his path. This film is actually a perfect contrast to Godzilla, where that was just a grey mess (Godzilla's grey, the sky's grey, the buildings are grey, everything looks washed out and blah) and this is a colorful journey with lush, full scenery. Highly recommend this, fun popcorn flick.

About the post credits scene:

That Godzilla connection :banderas:
Mothra :banderas:
Rodan :banderas:
King Ghidorah :banderas:

Gojira's roar at the end:banderas:
Here's a pretty good article explaining the connection in this now cinematic universe:

Co-sign all of this. Me and my staff cut out of work early to see this and we had a ball. So much fukkery. I was surprised at how graphic and creative the deaths were. Once it became clear anyone could die it became much more interesting, at least to me. My only gripe is that
in hindsight, certain characters really were safe. John Goodman's death was the classic moral cautionary tale, he was always doomed. Same with SLJ's character. I really wish one of the main 5 that lived hadn't survived. Especially Hiddleston or the photographer. The photographer should have done died like 5 times.
Anyway, it was fun to watch SLJ play crazy, he does that well.

That spoiler is suspect, like how is that even possible? But logic aside, the promise for more of this is exciting.

Two thumbs up.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention this before. They give a shoutout to, of all fukking movies, Cannibal Holocaust :russ:

Somebody gets bodied in Kong exactly like the infamous death Cannibal Holocaust got taken to court for.
