I completely disagree with the second part. I've seen families (including my own) that were super close but once the parents die and inheritance enters the equation all of a sudden the family fractures over how the money is split. At their core most people are selfish and about their own well being.

Well money can definitely fracture relationships if either side (or both) are struggling. But I left that part out because we are talking about some adults who already had money and were in their early to mid 40's by the time Kobe got paid. At that age, you aren't changing much. Kobe seems to suggest they were spoiled by his generosity but I can't believe that is what fukked things up. If they are jealous or whatever of his money, no amount of time or slow playing would change that. It's one or both sides being stubborn about a lot of stupid shyt that causes a relationship to fracture like that.

While this is all speculation, it goes along with what I'm saying that simply giving them less wouldn't change anything. If they just saw him as a meal ticket, that means they don't respect him and were either incapable or unwilling to have a real relationship with him, whether it was because of jealousy, disagreement with his life choices, overall inability to get along, or whatever.

We are talking about grown ass adults. If we are going with the story that they are just mad because the gifts they received aren't lavish enough, how the fukk can we say that if he had simply stonewalled them, they would have become reasonable people who would yearn for his love and presence and forget all about the money?
