Kobe and Gigi Bryant Memorial Thread (RIP)

He's literally the only guy of his stature (other than Roberto Clemente) in sports to die young. I get both sad and angry every time I think about this shyt. If it was one guy outside of the people I personally know that I wanted to see live forever, it woulda been Kobe. Man I'm sick.

The All-Star MVP being named after Kobe is great but I think the NBA needs to do more so we don't ever forget his legacy. They don't need to change the logo but I think they need to name Jan. 26th Kobe Bryant Day in the NBA from now on. I like the idea someone posted a while back where every NBA game on that day should have one team wearing all #8 and the other team all wearing #24. That way we can celebrate him every year.

When you consider what he meant to the game, and when you consider what he meant to Jerry West, I honestly feel like they should make him the logo. It won't happen, but I feel like it should. He's the most respected athlete in the world.

For those of you still interested in the aviation aspect of the crash and how quickly shyt can go sideways in the clouds when you've lost visual cues, this is the best simulation I've seen.

Two pilots go up in a helo, one with blankets on his side on the inside limiting his vision to just inside the cockpit.

The other pilot (an instructor) asks the pilot to keep the helicopter level just using instruments...you can see homey has no idea how the helicopter is oriented after just seconds. If the instructor doesn't intervene, he's flipping the helicopter in like less than 20s each time.

just a freak accident

it was a foggy day but most of the flight was actually fine in terms of visibility. they just hit a lower cloud bank near the end and the visibility dropped to basically nothing, and the pilot lost spatial awareness right in the mountainous area. literally the worst combination that could've happened. If they had flown 10 or 15 minutes earlier or later, the fog may not have been as bad right, because clouds move and shyt.

its just one of those things where literally the worst shyt happened. its like with Nipsey. what if he went with his bodyguard that day? what if Nip decided to leave right after hooking his friend up with clothes like he was supposed to, vs. hanging in the parking lot? etc. etc. etc.

both situations were just a terrible combination of timign and bad luck.

With that said, I got too much respect for Kobe and his legacy to try and turn this or any thread about him into a discussion over conspiracy theories. So just know this is the last time I will post anything about this. Don't quote me on this post expecting a response.
