Rip Kobe Bryant, Gianna Bryant, Payton Chester, Sarah Chester, Alyssa Altobelli, Keri Altobelli,, John Altobelli, Christina Mauser and Ara Zobayan,

I’ll never forget this game. I was a naive 18 year old teenage who knew nothing about life but I was in absolute awe of Kobe’s performance. Everything about him in this match was memorising, The fake/shimmy with the dagger three was :wow:

Team had started panicking when Spain was threatening(and they were). Kobe went on a run and handled the pressure like nothing. And it was telling too, I mean the nba’s best was on the floor but when it came down to it, Kobe took us home.

Sad sh.it man

"Kobe Bryant's Muse" was on, tried watching it but damn it was difficult, had to stop after 5 minutes when he started talking about being brave in front of his children. I'm feeling better than week ago but I'm not ready for that.

Six child models stood on stage in purple, black and yellow Lakers jerseys bearing Bryant's numbers.
Nike paid tribute to Kobe Bryant on Wednesday at a fashion show in New York.

The show featured six children walking out on stage wearing Bryant's number 24 and 8 Lakers jerseys (in purple, black and yellow). As music played, they stood in front of an audience that included Rosalía, Drake, British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, Louis Vuitton designer Virgil Abloh, Nike CEO John Donahoe and gymnast Gabby Douglas at The Shed at Hudson Yards. Bryant died in a helicopter crash on Jan. 26 alongside his 13-year-old daughter Gianna.

The sportswear brand was debuting its designs for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Collection and continued with the runway show after the tribute.

Wearing a Lakers jersey, Douglas took over Nike's Instagram stories to give a behind-the-scenes look at the jerseys and dance rehearsals. The kids appeared to return to the runway for an upbeat dance finale as well, holding hands with adult models. Soccer player Brandi Chastain and basketball player Lisa Leslie also took to the runway in white uniforms.

Bryant originally signed a sneaker deal with Nike in 2003 and on Jan. 3 launched the Kobe V Protro Chaos, just one of the many shoes he created with the brand. After his death, Nike sold out of all Bryant apparel online. The company posted a tribute on its website, titled "In Memory: Kobe Bryant," that reads in part, "Kobe was one of the greatest athletes of his generation and has had an immeasurable impact on the world of sport and the community of basketball."

If you think you're lonely now, ohhh girl...
I remember when I first realized Kobe was “real.” Like, all time great real. I knew he was good as hell, but there’s a stark like between that and all-time great level ability. I knew he was “good” his second season. It was a game in Utah when I had the revelation he was an all time great . It was against Utah and all that Colorado shyt was going on. I grew up obsessed with the game. Like, literal obsession. My first love by a huge margin. Gary Payton used to do this move where he’d back you down with the ball in his left hand in the paint, and then on the bounce and in one motion he’d rotate his body and catch it with his right hand. His shoulders would be past you already and he’d have a bee-line right to the basket. My real hoopers know what I’m talking about. :wow:

Anyways, I saw Kobe kill Utah that game (pretty sure he had 40+), but he did that Ol’ GP move and he did it with a speed I haven’t seen a player do it at before or since. I knew he was real-real after that.

The first time I thought Kobe was the best basketball player of all-time was when he dropped 42 points in the first half against Jordan's Wizards. That performance just blew my mind. You gotta remember back in 2003 teams weren't scoring a lot. And 40+ point games were rare. So for a guy to score 40+ in the first half just seemed impossible.

I was a Jordan fan when I started watching basketball. I always viewed him as the GOAT. That night was the first time it crossed my mind that I might be watching someone better than the great Michael Jordan.

Jordan had 40 point games in the playoffs. He averaged 45 in the last Finals series against the Jazz. We can say Kobe was one of the greats, but don't get too hyped.

I'm telling you my experience. You can believe what you want to believe. On that night I believed I was watching the best basketball player to ever live. And his name was Kobe Bryant.
