LeBron wasn't my first choice either but I feel like he did the best he could..

Phil would have been great, we still have to hear from him.
Im not criticizing Lebron for speaking. Im criticizing them for choosing Lebron to speak.

T.O. tribute to Kobe.

Also it should be noted T.O. showed Kobe how much he meant to him in life. He named Kobe during his Hall of Fame as someone who inspired.

The amount of respect Kobe had from athletes outside his own sport is breath-taking.

Dumbass in another thread wanted to argue that Brady was bigger than Kobe. Nah.

Only two American athletes approaching Kobe in terms of influence and popularity are MJ and Bron. Add Messi and Ronaldo if we're going worldwide. And Kobe was the only one of them actively going international and/or meeting athletes from other sports.

Magic shouldve spoke...

surprisingly I haven’t seen magic speak on this publicly (other than social media)

I think to do so would crush him even more

he was a bit emotional when he announced he was stepping away from the laker job a minute ago

so I can’t even imagine how difficult it would’ve been for him to speak before that crowd

I’m sure he’ll speak tho during the memorial

My first thought was they were too emotional to speak. I know Rob would be. I assumed Magic would, especially since he has gone on talk shows after speaking about Kobe. Seemed he would be able to do it emotionally. I was very surprised. I am not clowning LeBron for speaking at all. I'm just saying they missed the mark and pretty far by having him speak. LeBron's celebrity does not trump Magics in Los Angeles so how big he is everywhere else doesn't matter to me. I'm just saying that as a life long Laker fan, I absolutely did not care to hear from Lebron at Kobe's honoring with all the people this affected more intimately. It's like having a neighbor speak at funeral instead of family.

oh wow he did?

I haven’t seen those :(

So I went to the memorial twice. Once last week during my lunch break and one last time over the weekend. Was super packed:

Line to get in on Saturday (was like Bourbon Street):

They even have the condo towers lit up in Kobe:

I have more that I might post later but you get the pictures. LA showing A LOT OF LOVE for Kobe, Gigi, and all others. No arguing, bickering, etc. Everyone was in a good, sometimes somber mood. Kobe, Gigi, and Mamba chants would start randomly especially Saturday night.
