Failure to who? The front office? This was a lottery team that added talented players from other bad teams. What expectations beside hunting for a playoff spot would there have been?

Y’all looking at the current results and trying to change the narrative. Go look at what the experts and analysts had the Hawks ranked for this season and come back to reality.

Who is spending that type of money in the offseason if the expectations isn't to make some noise in the regular season and making the playoffs? Be realistic breh. Shall I name to you the players and the amount of money they spent on them?

Again who expected this team to make noise outside of the front office? As someone who is a fan, I thought the additions were interesting building blocks for a team a season or two away. That’s what most folks thought of this team. If you felt different, you were in the minority. Nate turned this team around from the crap coaching LP was doing and surpassed expectations.

Rondo and Danilo Gallinari were win now pieces :mjlol:

You could argue that Bogdan Bogdanović is as well considering his age compared to other talent on the roster.

That last game was not championship basketball by any stretch :russ:

That's the difference between contenders and pretenders. That team literally folded when it mattered the most and insisted on shooting threes even when it obviously wasn't following for them. Milwaukee actually did what other teams in the past haven't which is attack the paint when the 3 ball isn't falling.

I’m talking about the playoffs as a whole.
The Bucks have 2 series worth of tape to figure out how to attack the Hawks and they did a good job of that the last 2 games.

The Bucks bowed out early quite often and this is their first real opportunity at making the Finals. Everything you’ve been saying about the Hawks season actually applies to the Bucks. They’ve had expectations on them for over 2 seasons now. They lose this series and they have some big questions in the off season.

Of course the ATL
Ehhhh beating Philly and whatever they win against Milwaukee is an overachievement. Everything else from the regular season to the first round against the Knicks was the expectations considering the hype for that team coming into the season with the pieces that they signed. A first round exit for that team would have been a disappointment with all of the money they had spent in the offseason. The coaching change actually put them on track for what the expectations were going into the season.

Saying they've overachievement more than any other team in the past 5 years is a stretch considering that Phoenix has been a lottery team for years just as Atlanta was and are now one win away from the Finals.

And before you bring up Phoenix's "luck" of injuries, the Clippers beat the #1 seed in the league without Peg Leg and Denver (who Phoenix beat) beat a healthy Portland team with their best players playing. Don't bring up Mitchell's injury for the Clippers beating the Jazz because Philly can use that excuse with Embiid.

:mjlol: at your lies and recalibrated expectations

Expectations for the Hawks was to compete for a playoff spot. That’s what the organization said prior to the start of the season and that’s what the off-season moves were centered around. Winning a first round series was never the expectation and to state differently is a lie

Who has recalibrated expectations? :mjlol:

It doesn't matter what the organization said when it's fairly obvious what the expectations were with all of the money that they spent in the offseason :mjlol:

It's was obvious that they didn't have faith in their young core to take the next step (which is why they shouldn't overpay), which is why they ended up bringing in all the vets and experience that they did :mjlol:

What are you talking about? :dwillhuh:

The teams goal was to make the playoffs this season and had the cap space to bring in veteran players. We also have several young players (Collins, Huerter) who are coming up on contract years and we need to see what they’re capable of with a legitimate NBA roster. But you won’t find anyone or any source saying that the expectation was anything more than making the playoffs

:mjlol: at winning a first round series being the bar for this team before the season GTFOH

Our own damn GM came out several times this year and said we weren't contenders yet. :russ:
