Knicks should have kept David Lee.

Melo was going to NY either way, regardless of who was on the roster...that was all LaLa. Amare was still in Phx when the rumblings came out of Melo's camp, where he was headed. Amare doesn't change that.

As for Chandler, that dude doesn't have the clout to make demands.

None of that would have mattered if NY had signed LeBron.

Melo only became a realistic option AFTER Amar'e got signed.

Sure he does.

Melo didnt want to come to da knicks until amare was already there.
It was supposed to be him, amare and chris paul. They even had a toast about it at his wedding.

Melo woulda went to brooklyn( where he is actually from) and played with deron and potentially d howard (cause those were da rumors at the time) if he really wanted to leave. He wouldnt have gone to play with david lee, billy walker and toney douglas instead

U dont no wtf u talkin bout either

Melo turned us down tho. Nets and Nuggets had deals that would have been done if they could get Melo to sign an extension but he made it clear he wanted the Knicks. Trade talks with us fell apart when his people made it clear he wanted to play for the Knicks.

He was traded to the Knicks on February 22, and we did the Deron trade on the 23rd. His mind was made up before the Deron trade, which came out of nowhere. No one knew Deron was even available when the deal was announced.

Deron had no play on where Melo was going, that deal happened after Melo was Knick and signed his extension.

Edit: Here's a quote from an ESPN article after the Nets met with Melo

Sources said Anthony was noncommittal after hearing the Nets' presentation, declining to say whether or not he would sign the three-year, $65 million contract extension that New Jersey has established as a prerequisite for completing a trade with Denver.

Anthony told the Nets he will think about the situation and reiterated his publicly stated position of hoping to have a resolution to this five-months-old trade saga by the end of the All-Star Weekend. Much of the league, nonetheless, continues to operate under the assumption that the All-Star forward remains desperate to wind up with the New York Knicks when all is said and done.

This was the trade that was discussed back then, but Melo wasn't signing with us and it all fell apart after that.

As of late Sunday night, sources said, New Jersey believed it was poised to receive Anthony, Billups and Hamilton, with Denver landing two future first-round picks and six players. The Nuggets' haul would feature Nets rookie Derrick Favors, former All-Star guard Devin Harris and Nets sharpshooter Anthony Morrow. In addition, the Nuggets would bring in the New Jersey threesome of Quinton Ross, Ben Uzoh and Stephen Graham included for salary-cap purposes.

Detroit, meanwhile, was to receive Nets big man Johan Petro and the expiring contract of Nets forward Troy Murphy, with the Pistons motivated to join in by the $17-plus million in long-term savings they'd earn by shedding Hamilton's contract.

The "toast" was actually the summer before the Melo trade, July 2010. Amare was the only one on the Knicks at that point. So these trade talks were after the toast.

He chose the knicks because amare was there dog
And there was potential for chris paul
If it was the knicks starring david lee, he woulda went to da nets and been the face of the move to brooklyn(his hometown!)
I got the deron stuff confused a second but everyone knew that the nets were gonna make big moves and attempt to form a superstar team by the time they moved to brookyln

Knicks on da other hand would of made zero free agent moves and shown no serious signs of gettin any better

You may be right, we will never know for sure tho unless he says it. It just seemed like to me he wanted to be a Knick all along big 3 or not, but maybe he was pushed that way by the "toast".

I just wanted to get the Deron stuff straight, I went through those days when we went from on the verge of gettin Melo (:stylin:) to losin out and hearin we would still try to trade for Al Harrington (:sadcam:) to all of a sudden hearing at work the next day they traded for Deron outta nowhere (:whew:)

:heh:

I'm the idiot? The more you post, the more you show that you don't understand basketball. Jack is better than Kidd? :melo: Nobody said teams were beating down the door to sign Kidd. Dude is at the end of his career and in his 18th season. But damn near nobody was trying to get Jack. Dudes been bouncing around the league from team to team. And because you stat watch instead of watching the game, you're under the impression that he's better than Kidd. :smh:

So you still stand by your words that Kidd is Better than Jack?
