Just in case this hasnt been said, when David Lee was our best player we got blown out regularly and never got close to making the playoffs. When Stat was our best player, he had the Knicks on pace to make the playoffs, rejuvenated interest in the Knicks, and was in the MVP conversation. But I fukks with Lee tho. He's a scrapper.

I know . 3 years later we making David lee threads .:heh: he's a good player but there is a salary cap for a reason we can't have everyone . Would the warriors like Tyson chandler ? I'm sure they would but he didn't sign there . You don't see us making dpoy threads towards Dallas and shyt like that . Idk why he can't just enjoy his team , we gave you lee and mark Jackson be thankful

I don't think a Warrior fan made this thread.

According to the NY Times, the Knicks have tried on numerous occasions to get rid of the 30-year old STAT but have had no luck so far: “This past summer, the Knicks offered Stoudemire to nearly every team in the league — ‘available for free,’ as one rival executive put it. But they found no takers because of his diminished production, his health and his contract, which has three years and $65 million remaining (counting this season) and which is uninsured against a career-ending knee injury. In February, the Knicks wanted to send Stoudemire to Toronto in a deal for Andrea Bargnani, a person briefed on the discussion said. But the proposal was vetoed by James L. Dolan, the Garden chairman, before it ever reached the Raptors (who would not have made the deal anyway, team officials there said). Before that, the Knicks tried to package Stoudemire and [Tyson] Chandler in a bid to land Dwight Howard. The implication is clear: for all his scoring prowess and star power, Stoudemire is no longer viewed as a critical piece. The reasons are obvious, too. The Knicks have been inept with Anthony and Stoudemire in the lineup, going 30-36 over parts of two seasons and 1-7 in the playoffs. Advanced metrics show the Knicks are demonstrably worse — both offensively and defensively — when the two share the court

A writer with an axe to grind w/ the Knicks in 2012 doesn't change shyt about why it was a better idea to build around All-NBA forward Amare instead of David Lee in 2010.
What axe does he has to grind? Did you think he wanted to write the story as a Knick beat writer but couldn't because he had to be in his face everyday?

seeing as how he had no problems trashing Carmelo during the season last year & putting it out there w/ the quickness that D'Antoni wanted to trade him for Deron.....

No.

That wasn't trashing Melo. And he ain't trashing Amare. He's stating facts. Knicks want him off the books but can't move him. The Knicks are worse when he and Melo play together. He's not standing on a shoe box saying Amare is a bad person.

Under Woodson the Melo/Stat combo are 9-2

If you say all he's doing is stating facts, it shouldn't have been a big deal for him to say this when it was actually going on like he did last year with all the Melo/Pringles shyt, instead of conveniently waiting until Amare is close to returning.

If they tried to dump him this summer and Beck became a Net beat writer this summer it would make more sense to drop the story when Amare made his season debut. I honestly don't think I can find a knick fan that would rather have Amare on the roster instead of having his contract off the books.

That's not what the argument in this thread was about. It's about whether or not they should have kept David Lee instead of pursuing Amare who was an All-NBA level player. Stop trying to use hindsight, whatever happens in 2012 is irrelevant to what was going on in 2010.
