I think another point that get lost amongst how popularized the drill shyt is, is the fact that Chicago gangs and the mentality is on some other shyt. It's probably the 2nd heavy most ingrained gang culture outside of LA without a doubt...They really be on some militant shyt minus the direction and alignment lol I know that's a heavy word, but think about it. Even calling nikkas opps(opposition)It’s a different dynamic when you in an intense gang war tho. He was already a member. Way before keef blew up. But he was broke ect.
The gang war got intense as he got older and got more money.
So to protect himself and his friends who was targets he funded the guns, cars ect.
And to be fair it took him a longggg time to get real money and those gang members protected him when he had nothing.
I posted about Fredo being a young nikka on some sniper shyt when Beans came out there back in the day... How big a deal it was and is that Keef said fukk all that and moved to LA... Lil shyt that speak with to they culture of banging. Not glorifying it, but it's a culture like anything else... Biker gangs, Mexican gangs etc.
I say all that to say it's hard to truly reason or gain a real objective understanding (in my opinion) without first trying to gain a understanding of the culture itself. And that go for anything.
At the end of the day like breh said... nikkas in a war. Not a beef. A few people mentioned it took time for Durk to find his sound and catch fire, getting dropped from the label and all that shyt. Every rap nikka feel like they hit the lotto, but for him to slowly rise and become the "Face of Chicago" on some industry/street shyt... He prolly never saw it happening like this in terms of success and money.
shyt was gon play out how it was gon play out. shyt just a real long extension and a crazy amount of money added to the mix
