It's a combination of this social media era just making nikkas have to try harder to keep up that image and also nikkas from back in the days have far less resources and having to actually practice the craft harder to make it

In the past most dudes are rapping a few years before they really pop off but these days dudes can go viral almost month to month year to year, they don't develop much of a discipline to stay away from that bs because they essentially made it at 18-22 so there isn't that incentive to change.
