Not really. He was getting beat pretty bad and his return fire was getting walked through. If I didn't know better I'd say he was quitting anyway unofficially.

Its a terrible stoppage, boxing is about not quitting. No giving up and keeping on fighting every round.
He never showed he was incapable of defending himself, so no need to stop.
That said mentally Andre hasn't wanted to go life and death since the AA fight and the brain bruising.
Hang it up and enjoy life, he and his brother should have the money to live well now.
