it would probably be less problematic than SK trying to demilitarize and deradicalize the population

I'll try and keep an open mind
What? :dahell:

Ignoring the fact that letting an oppressive regime like China take an unstable nation like NK is insane in itself (and that's not even taking into consideration SK would go to war over that), the mere act of reuniting all the separated families from before the war would do more for NK's return to normalcy than anything any other country could do.

Lol, let’s be real tho brehs an oppressive hermit kingdom is probably more stable than a NK going through a power struggle. An NK that’s been doing missile testing for awhile no less.

I think if it was real Trump would jump at the chance to be the one to formally end the Korean War.

Maybe, but I'd still rather that regime go to down (one way or another) even if it causes problems in the short term.

Just the sheer human rights abuses and how he starves his people (and it's probably much worse than we know about) is enough to be glad if/when that fukk ass regime is taken out of power. Yeah it would probably cause short term political instability but in the long term everybody would be better off, especially North Koreans themselves.

I don't doubt the Koreans could sort out their own family differences, the problems come from the multitude of nations that would interfere in that process.

Surely China doesn't want them to reconcile, look at how they treat their other neighbors...that's the thing

UN can't fix it because of Russia and China so....

i actually think social reconciliation between the north and south korean people wouldnt be exceptionally challenging, both populations definitely want to be one nation-state and consider themselves part of the same nation. the bigger issue is the massive gap between these countries in economic development and industrialization. south korea would take a huge hit to their economy industrializing the North.

it would be a more extreme version of german unification which also tanked the west german economy.

So did fat fukk not see his shadow or what?
The media reporting got muddied by vague reports that he wasn't gravely ill which almost certainly means he's sick maybe just not near death sick. So I imagine the media backed off the story with no verifiable means to validate the story.
