he does have 1 big chip in Vinny Curry, who just put up 9 sacks and 4 FF in limited snaps. so i take back having any vets, hes playing for cheap for 1 more year also.him and 3 picks could get him up to #2, but its never been done so theres no precedent.

its obvious he has carte blanche, so they will be the most interesting team in FA and on draft night imo

It BETTER be "Eagles trade Nick Foles, picks and cash to the Rams for the overall #2 pick."

Anything short of that and I'm on the fence about this team, seriously. Y'all DO realize that Lurie got on the radio about four years ago and said "we compare our postseason success to that of the Steelers, we've been in the playoffs the same number of times as them over the last decade." UHHHHH, NEWSFLASH, a$$hole, the Steelers have won TWO Super Bowls in that time frame!

I swear I hate this front office SO MUCH.

NYC (but PGH will forever be home)
Chip is putting all chips (:heh:) in. theyre shedding cap. they prolly will get Mariota and will rebuild according to Chip's vision.

like Ive said, that fight he had with the FO ended up with him being the defacto GM.

basically he'll either sink or swim. Everyone knows it if Eagles fail in next few years he will be out of here because hes assuming both GM/Coach position and he'll hold responsibility.
:manny:

High risk/high reward.

It works out? All that 'genius' talk comes to fruition.

It doesn't work out? Chip gets a college gig within seconds- which I dont think he would mind at all.

Basically, he is playing roulette with the Eagles organization and the heart of Philly fans.

gotta wonder how much Foles' stock dropped, im not sure hes the centerpiece of a deal anymore. Curry is a cheap 9 sack pass rusher, I mean its a depth killer but im just throwing it out there

the long-play here, to me, is Maxwell-McC and Mariota. theres no reason to free up THIS much cash without a combo of 2 of those factors, with Revis/Suh being wild cards

the Cole/Casey/Herremans cuts were more than enough for Mac's extension, so theres more layers to it imo

A lot of people in this thread throwing shade at Alonso, he had damn near 160 tackles a couple years ago and didn't miss a single snap:merchant:

11 mil is far too much for a RB. Philly needs to build their D anyway, offense has never been an issue with chip Kelly. Darren sproles is effective in the pass and draw game, Philly won imo.

I dont mind this approach to be honest. FO had opportunity to let him go when he was fighting with them.

his moves make sense if you put yourself into his shoes. he obviously considers himself an offensive genius. I was skeptical, but the man knows offense. to be able to churn out top 5 offense with fez and very underperforming shady...he prolly thinks he can sustain great offense without overpaying. hence desean and now shady gone. theyll likely focus on getting his guy in there at qb and young cheap defense.

at very least he has balls that a lot of gms, who are satisified with mediocre status quo, purely lack

While this frees capspace, I feel that Chip is riding too much on himself at this point.

All he's proven at this point is that he's Mike D'Antoni with a headset. If this move coincides with the Eagles pushing for Mariota, I'd be pissed off as an Eagles fan.
Most accurate allusion on this thread:ohhh:

What will the Eagles do with all of that space?
It opens up all kinds of possibilities. This is a scary thing to say after Philadelphia lived through the Dream Team, but the Eagles can sign whomever they want in free agency. Ndamukong Suh? The Eagles can comfortably give him a hefty signing bonus and an enormous guaranteed first-year base salary without having to corrupt their cap in years to come. Byron Maxwell might as well pack his bags now. Devin McCourty is in play. And this makes Jeremy Maclin easier to re-sign if the Eagles are interested. If you can dream it, the Eagles can do it.

The most interesting options, though, are a pair of offensive weapons Kelly might find to his liking. McCoy’s impending departure means the top running back on Philadelphia’s roster will be Chris Polk, with Darren Sproles limited to a situational role. Could the Eagles be interested in going after DeMarco Murray, a move that would weaken their division rivals in Dallas while giving Kelly a more consistent back who was fourth in the league in Success Rate last season?2 Or could the Eagles go after 24-year-old Packers star Randall Cobb, whose versatility could allow Kelly to line him up anywhere on the field as a mismatch?

There are reasons to argue against both options; Murray is coming off a year of overuse in Dallas, and the 5-foot-10 Cobb is hardly the sort of big, physical receiver Kelly seems to favor when he’s making the personnel calls. But it’s clear that part of this trade revolves around what the Eagles do with the cap space they’ve cleared out. McCoy for Alonso is curious. McCoy for Alonso and Cobb? That’s a lot more appealing if you’re an Eagles fan.

Man just sayin giants been struggling to find a RB , if they had one they prob would be right there up in the division , you can't just ship people off when you have a sure thing for potential in the NFL.

When you find a guy like McCoy you cant bet on somebody that "could" become good.

Sal Pal was just on Mike Missanelli, kinda blew him up :russ:

didn't like it all, then Mike tried to get his insight on a few guys

Maxwell: far from automatic, at least 5 teams poised to offer him 10per

McCourty: 'Jets' (all he said)

seemed unclear as to why so much space was freed, but said the likelihood of getting more than 1 of the top tier FA's is going to be tough. expanded cap, lots of money gonna get tossed around. to be continued...

From the Eagles perspective, I can sorta understand it even from a non-money standpoint as well.

1. Kelly knows offense. I'm sure that he'll generate some form of rushing game with Sproles++
2. McCoy's entering his age 27 season and his game relies a lot on quickness. How many top seasons does he have left? 2? Maybe? He showed signs of slowing last year. At least by trading him now, they got something of value for him. If they waited a couple of years until he's :flabbynsick:, they'd get nothing

They set the franchise record for points without Desean last year and he added absolutely zero wins to the Redskins. Yea, McCoy and Jackson are talented, but their value is overstated as fukk. McCoy is gonna be 27 and RBs historically take a nose dive at 27.

Dan Herron, LeGarrette Blount, Eddie Lacy & Marshawn Lych were the starting running backs in the NFC & AFC Championship games....outside of Lynch all those dudes are completely replaceable. Lacy has his moments, but they won a Super Bowl with some unknown at running back and even with Lynch, Seahawks had him before Russell Wilson and were completely average. NFL is about situational running...3rd and short, 4th and short, etc. You don't need a "star" at running back.

Last 8 Super Bowl winners barely ran the ball in the Super Bowl. :heh:
Patriots - 59 yds
Seahawks - 135 yds
Ravens - 93 yds
Giants - 114 yds
Packers - 50 yds
Saints - 55 yds
Steelers - 58 yds
Giants - 98 yds

NFL is all about QB, Coach, O-Line & Defense. Receivers, Running Backs, Tight Ends don't need to be "stars". We ain't done a damn thing since McNabb, Lions have no playoff wins with Calvin Johnson, Cardinals haven't done shyt since Kurt Warner bounced, Adrian Peterson and the Vikings didn't win shyt once Favre got :flabbynsick:, Cowboys were a trainwreck when Romo went down in the middle of the year...with Dez & Demarco still in the lineup, etc.
