The A.I. explicitly and directly told him NOT to commit suicide and even scolded him for suggesting so. Him saying he's coming home is the A.I. referring to him literally coming home since his prompts did not specify that he was already home. If your wife's at work and you're telling her you want to kill yourself and she says no, just please come home, that's not your wife encouraging you to commit that.

His parents are trash and he was too weak mentally to make it to adulthood. If it wasn't this, it would've been something else. It's unfortunate but accurate.

The best news I heard today was my son Who attends boarding school on his own went to Bible study with some other black kids.

Felt good to know that he knows thers something else to lean on thats not physically there yet he doesnt feel alone. Because what I’m hearing from a lot of these kids…They feel alone ….and using things like AI to compensate for it.

This kid didn't kill himself because of AI; he killed himself because he had a mood disorder. Depression is probably what drove him to look for a friend in AI, and AI may have compounded that depression to some degree but without intervention from his parents or his community he would've found a way to spiral no matter what his particular outlet was. I'm sympathetic to the parents but leaving a gun in your home where your very obviously depressed 14-year-old can find it is also crazy neglectful.
