Wow! I def didn't see this one coming.

I don't think Khan has the power and footwork to keep Canelo off him.
Might as well get paid good to get KO!

and if he was somehow able to pull out a victory. Khan becomes that Dude in Boxing.

you think khan's hand speed might make a difference?
Im one of the people of the opinion that Khan's offensive gifts make him a problem for ANY fighter. I've thought for years that he was hands down the most interesting match-up for Floyd above even Pac.

Insane handspeed, respectable power in both hands, and a super high workrate (importantly, from the outside). With Khan, if he isn't being hurt, he's winning rounds comfortably. Canelo's tendency to have large periods of inactivity (especially when his opponent is moving and firing in spurts) adds up to him losing rounds to Khan.

If he doesn't get in there and tag up Khan early he can be 4-5 rounds down real quick.

'Canelo' Alvarez agrees to surprise middleweight title fight against Amir Khan

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez was said to be in negotiations with uninspiring opponents until Tuesday, when he announced he’ll fight England’s former junior-welterweight world champion Amir Khan on May 7.

The HBO pay-per-view bout will be fought at a 155-pound catch-weight limit for the World Boxing Council middleweight belt that Mexico’s Alvarez (46-1-1, 32 knockouts) won by unanimous decision over Miguel Cotto in November.

Meh.

I look at this as a bit of an L for Canelo.
Apparently his people don't want him fighting GGG so he took a easy payday against Khan.

Actually since nobody wants to fight Golovkin, maybe it's an L for him too.

How's it an L for Canelo, when GGG is negotiating to fight Dominic Wade on April 23rd?:dwillhuh:

Canelo fights Khan 2 weeks later on May 7th, and then Canelo vs GGG happens in September.

goons in the cut tryna talk you out yo necklace
He's running from Brook.........to face Canelo?:dahell:

Like, does that even make sense to you breh?:dwillhuh:
Yes....the payday and the allure of being a star. To Khan you face Brook you are King at home, face Canelo you are a star. He knew he wasn't beating Floyd or Pac but they are all he campaigned for. Now Canelo fell in his lap, the literal nightmare for him and because he would be on big stage he jumped at this. If he fought Brook and lost its over, he can lose to Canelo and still get fights because no one expected him to win like losing to Floyd.

He can face Canelo in May, due his Ramadan in June, and then come back and face either Danny Garcia (because he's still #1 and mandatory opponent for Garcia's WBC championship) OR face Brook in the UK for the IBF Championship at the end of the year.

It's actually a win-win for him. At very worst, Khan will possibly have faced either Canelo & Kell Brook or Canelo & Danny Garcia in 1 year...that's tough.
