Kevin is smart for putting MTS in his content, he knows who to target
Great show, a lot of the fear of failure comes from social anxiety and not having a financial and psychological safety net. The caller pointed out that he didn't want to be shunned, this often stops Black men from taking chances and taking the path of least resistance.
I like that he brought up hiring coaches, I have several of my attorney friends who dismiss the idea of hiring writing coaches even though they are relatively inexpensive. Ego, being cheap, and misguided notions of grit get in the way of choosing the most impactful process.
If you stay in shape you can look half your age at 50This! Major key for Black men is to not get Cut the drinking so your face doesn't look old and dehydrated.
Shave the shyt off if you're balding. Cut the mustache and beard if too much salt and pepper starts showing up.
he was talking to souls in this one
The fashion industry is saturated. Especially t-shirt designs.Good show last night. Spoke alot of real shyt about black men on our fear of failure. Only thing is I thought it was a little contradictory when he was takling to that one brother that wanted to be a fashion designer saying and kind of persuaded him to just focus on the consultant shyt.
You were right to point out senior leadership as opposed to middle management. Mid-level managers are more likely to get the ax as opposed to valuable individual contributors.
Being a mid-level manager for extended periods is a dangerous place to be. Because your skills can atrophy. And your contribution to the top and bottom lines is much more difficult to measure.
Black men should aspire to be great individual contributors, soak up the knowledge, bounce around companies to maximize salary and then strike out on our own.
Or, move up the management chain into senior leadership.
Those are the two paths in corporate.
Yeah and ill use tech again as thats my area, many people opt to stay IC’s vs taking on management as after senior level you can go the Principal route if you are really good and you end up becoming a strategic asset to the company (i.e you’re the guy who created the file structure used for an operating system). You end up being worth more being in the company than outside giving away that game.
the thing is it is EXTREMELY difficult to get to Principal level as its essentially parallel to leadership. Most people reach Senior Level and stay there forever.
The edge black people have is if we stay in shape we look young so even of we take a minor paycut later on our career to stay afloat red flags dont get thrown in interviews because an elderly looking person is being interviewed
So it seems like he did a men show hmm
