If we don’t have time for it, then the message gets lost and distorted. If the powers that be have taken the time to delicately layer these tropes onto our struggle, we have to be just as meticulous in dismantling them. Why? Because if we don’t, we fall prey to actually believing and perpetuating these stereotypes about ourselves.
I’d argue that in spite of the blk image in the media blk men and blk women are actually not as hypersexual as we think.
There’s been studies that show how blk men use protection more than other races of men, are more progressive than men in other communities and how blk girls in college were amongst the least sexually active.
