I don't like this argument. So every time I step outside the house I have to be in a suit and tie?
No, he's saying enjoy your style.

Just don't look down on suiting up or getting dressy. And he's right about that.

I think there's a level of peer pressure for black men and women to appear a certain way.

I posted this last month but this guy DeAndre Brossard on IG has @blackmenswear. He travels to different cities and gets Black Men to dress in suits to change the narrative. I think it's dope as fukk this is going on. I went to the Houston one last month.

Well...yes, to a certain degree. Are you willing to sacrifice some personal comfort for the greater good? In the military, there's this saying called "perception is reality". I think there's a time and a place for everything, I think a lot of black men and women are too casual in the way we do things. You don't got to wear a suit but at least make sure your clothes are neat and put together. A lot of our people need to get away from dressing tacky and things that don't suit us. I hate seeing old men dressing like time capsules for dated fashion. Get a nice leather jacket, some fitting jeans and a nice t shirt your size and you good. No more wife beaters, no gaudy ass jewelry. A nice Cuban link and maybe a simple watch or ring.

I don’t get why the dressing like a boy thing has to only be associated with Jordan’s. Why isn’t it just sneakers in general?

I say that because Jordan’s are known to be a Black thing, a Black man is the face of that sneaker, so is that why it’s considered something that boys wear?

I never hear anything about sneakers in general being considered as something that boys wear, only Jordan’s and I hear that from a lot of people from different races.

Timeless and classic without looking corny. Casual/Smart-Casual stuff.

Probably the negative association with them.

:why: You all latch on to the most trivial things. It's not about not ever wearing Jordans, it's about expanding your wardrobe overall. Jordans aren't even really a nice shoe. There are much better sneakers with higher quality materials which lends to an overall more mature look.

I haven’t watched the show on men, tonight, yet, but I’m glad he’s doing this. We got some things that need to be discussed as well.

I do think an expanded wardrobe is good. Ain’t gotta wear tennis shoes all the time. Like the older men used to say, it’s ok to step out in a blazer from time to time, and dress up. Sometimes you gotta look the part, and be grown and professional. I’ve said it on here before, but every man should atleast have a suit in his wardrobe, and if your money is right, get you 3 suits; a gray, navy and maybe a tan suit. If your money isn’t right, save up so you can afford one. Also, the gaudy jewelry isn’t needed every day. A nice Cuban link will do, and every man needs a nice watch. It’s ok to spend a little money on a watch, and I ain’t talmbout no damn Apple Watch.

I've been trying to get a buddy of mine to get a damn suit and he's in his early 30s. Last time I told him he scoffed at the idea and showed up at an interview with slacks and a white shirt that he didn't clean. Breh had a damn brown ring on his white shirt. :hhh:

Some of those fits are fresh, some seem like they're trying to hard and doesn't look natural.

Another thing is, our women don't go crazy over a classic man like they do and tatted up bad boy. Plus hood dudes money is as long as a lot business dudes. Women dictate it all

Get you some cologne too. It’s nice if a man has a scent a woman can smell anywhere and know that that’s you.

Another thing that grinds my gears, especially out here in Atlanta, is how women be driving their men around. No. Get your car detailed from time to time and drive your special lady around. Sometimes, open the door for your woman. Drive her, and make her feel like that’s your queen. I ain’t with all that king and queen talk, but you gotta make yours feel special. We have gotten away from that, and almost treat our women like she’s one of the boys. Man, I used to love it when I had my Chevy truck(I’m a country boy), and we’d step out, and I’d take mine to a nice spot to eat. She’d have some nice heels on, and I’d come to her side and open the door. Made her feel like nobody could do her like I could in all aspects of life. We got some work to do as well, fellas.
