Listening 10 minutes in. Some of this I already know - at a corporate holiday party you dress two levels above than your peers to dress to impress to network and talk to executive makers.

He also says bring something to the party which IDK but maybe it's a good idea. He says for a Secret Santa or a donation.

He says show up don't go alone! He said hire an escort if you don't have a girlfriend :russ:

I do notice that some companies in Corporate America that single men reach a glass ceiling because they may seem more as risk takers or mavericks which upper level execs may not like. They like someone that appears stable.

He goes in a bit about colognes also. Even back in he's saying "get the likes up folks!" lmao

He's not wrong, I always dress better than everyone at an even...usually its nothing more than an overcoat or a bespoke suit that hugs the arms. I never go alone, usually with some hot piece of ass, no need to hire an escort, plenty of dopey/pretty women would go simply because of my status, and colognes, dupes are you best friend. I'm not paying $300+ for imitation whale bile and pineapple, I pay 20 for a cologne that even Aventus owners get fooled by.

Colognes are a new venture and I hardly wear them but I actually have some Aventus I bought from a friend on the low since he's a huge fragrance head. Those guys are the best to hit up. I know a little bit about it and yeah if you rock cologne you're ahead of most men.

He also mentions not drinking a lot - one drink and don't act a fool. Don't smoke weed.

Some of this stuff is what my parents taught me. I knew about the importance of image years ago. People thought I worked in management for the longest because I put money into my clothing.

Dope you're into bespoke suiting. It's funny in my industry wearing a suit makes you look like a "suit". As much as I love them I'm starting to invest more into sportscoats and smart casual attire.

Cliff notes
It's 45 a minute video bro

Okay, I give you what I have done and done and they I will give you what Kevin Samuels has done or did. He talks about the holidays but this can be applied to a lot of different areas and events.

So this took me ten years to learn, sigh but whatever. Eventually got to this level HNWI level but would have got there faster with a mentor for sure.
Any event dress above what is expected and I usually do a three-piece suit. Everything is cyclical and goes in patterns even the markets most deals are don't after the bell and over dinner.

I am in Asia now so Chinese New Year is clean-up time for me most people turn off, most deals are done for me around that time. Never go alone to closing or catch up on the deal. I always bring my girl and go all out in terms of cost for her attire and make-up. It is as shows stability and that you can be tolerable. Something GMB will never understand.

Also, she has to be likable my current girl has brought in a ridiculous amount of money as she is very sociable and gets people to open up in ways I can't. Beauty and smile disarm damn new everyone men and women. If you plan to be anyone and raise in this world financial you will need the help of women. Something else GMB will never understand listen. Like me now I am not doing any deals with someone that doesn't have significant their in their life.

Listen carefully and respond and be direct don't get sidetracked get what you want. And smile! Those things have brought me a world of connections and finished deals.

Kevin Samuels points
  • Christmas as is North America best time to catch up with everyone taking breaks
  • Hire an escort why can work the room, or have a pretty girl that can
  • Listen don't be right
  • Don't over drink nurse the drink

Said it in another thread I wish someone told me about that before would have saved me years ascending.

If you can get Aventus for cheap, I don't knock out, I just don't like spending triple digits for juice.

As for drinking and smoking, only in social events. I'm not an alcoholic, I do love my coffee though. Plus its too much of a crutch, to need to be holding a drink all the time at the party. Weed? A little edible works wonders, and I don't smell like skunky herbs, which I've always hated.

As for suits, it really depends on how you want to stand out. I can do a simple slack/chelsea boot with vest, no blazers just a sport coat, and still look better than the rest. Its about how you carry yourself in a suit, or how you choose to stand out. I've had guys literally come up to me in 2000 dollar suits say "nice coat" and a conversation goes on from there. It only takes one piece to peacock properly, however most men ruin their look by trying to add unnecessary layers.

Arrive casually late. Leave early.

Resist trying to be right (sort of a How To Win Friends & Influence People tactic)

All facts. You actually don’t even need an escort, if you can get a professional woman by your side who knows how to move, that works.

Turtleneck, suit, or with a nice button down and a Burberry scarf.

:whew:

Save some bread up and stock up on some fall cologne. You won’t lose.

Research.

You need a 2-3 fragrances for each season. You can do the dupe thing if you want, but from my experience dossier, didn’t last long on me & it’s nothing like bumping into someone and them connecting with you a bit more cause you’re wearing the real deal.

If you got a “off the truck” vendor, like a connect, you can save money and buy from them, but otherwise, save up and buy at a real store. Plus they give you samples so you can experiment with how each scent adjust to your body chemistry.

I make good money to splurge on fragrances but I'm also rebuilding some of my wardrobe. I know two tailors so I've been working on adding versatile pieces in since I'm just working from home. The dress code in technology is "wear clothes" but when you dress a cut or two above, not wearing the company's tee shirts it definitely makes you stand out. I'm definitely going to have an elevated wardrobe when COVID is over :lolbron:

But overall I want to dress better for myself and my own personal sense of style.

Fragrances I have so far:
- Tom Ford Noir Extreme. Love this as a great winter scent, gourmond.
- Creed Aventus. More of my everyday
- Creed Millisime Imperial. A few decants. GREAT for the summer. I love the salty/marine scent.

I had some Vetiver scent, maybe by Byredo I forget that was good but it can be a bit more formal. I cop decants here and there.

I think Kevin hits the spot about dressing well. I know society is getting more casual and especially where I live people are leaning towards more athleisure but being overdressed will never be frowned upon. Also the tailors I know put me onto game on more casual fabrics and for me fabrics such as silk and hemp that are great for warmer climates so you can look great without burning up.

Those are nice. You got an office scent? Something that’s light and not too offensive? Tom Ford Grey Vetiver or Chanel egoiste works good. As for Byredo, those scents are clean.

Completely agree with him. Dressing well as a black man is the easiest thing to do. It’s a cheat code. Especially since a lot of men in our community are still dressing up like kids.

:snoop:

As society is dressing down, continue to dress up and handle business. Or if any breh in here is in between jobs, act like you’re handing business.

Can’t go wrong with this look during the summer. (Minus the shoes)

@TheManFromVA Black men in their 40s and 50s still want to wear fitteds with matching sneakers. That just ain't us because we're trying to make boss move. I guess that as you mentioned more people dressing down you can get noticed and having fun colors makes it not too stuffy.

As you get older, some of these things lose the competitive nature, especially for women. I did tennis in HS. I still play and teaching kids, but it's informal and inconsistent. In my area, a black tennis community is scant. I found some black golfers tho.

Most women's hobbies are domestic. Something indoors, feminine. Some things y'all listed are legit hobbies of women.
I feel we saying the same thing hah. I wouldnt say they are domestic, its competitive social skills.

women dont go out with their girls to be the least done up, dressed, worst posed and most out of place or the weak link.

The best investment for me, has been long term jackets/coats. An overcoat, can handle the entire winter, I stick with two colors; black (obviously it goes with anything), and beige, typical overcoat color, but it does go with everything and depending on your area, you won't see most with this color. For summer, the easy go-to are blazers (if I'm feeling lazy) and a simple vest over a dress shirt (button up). As simplistic as this sounds, I hardly see it at all here in NYC(5th avenue). Some times I'll see what I can get away with and just throw whatever on, and still its better than plenty dudes around me. I can't tell you how many times I get compliments for wearing a simple long sleeve(something that hugs), black jeans, and chelsea style boots(brown, beige, black).

The second trick/style are accessories, sure you might run into someone with the same style/outfit, but a bracelet, necklace or pinky ring, puts you over that 20% threshold. I stick with one pinky ring, one bracelet (separate hands) and a necklace (nothing loud, a ring/gemstone on it), this alone gets the look I'm going for across, and are conversation pieces. I always keep a time piece, whether its a reasonably priced Seiko, Citizen, Casio (Edifice) and an Invicta if I want to be extra loud and douchey.

As for fragrance, if you have money to splurge go ahead, but I've had to users of Aventus fooled, I'm not about spending money for a smell that flies off my skin, your mileage may vary. I have three scents, that's it. Summer (Pineapple, sandalwood, honey), Winter (Vanilla, Lavender, tobacco) and something to fukk around with on parties/combobreaker moments (Nautica, Bvlgari Aqua, Roadster). I'll get dupes when I can, since the smells aren't my main focus, if anything, oils do wonders as well.
